I had the anatomy ultrasound yesterday and now my stomach feels sore. I had discomfort during the ultrasound when she was pushing down. I felt fine after I got home from the scan, and I felt her moving a bit yesterday afterwards. I woke up this morning and my abs hurt. I read online that sometimes techs push down on larger women, but I am tiny so now I am wondering if she pushed down too hard? Has anyone experienced this? I don't want my baby to be hurt from the ultrasound :(

Don't worry I was the same after mine and I'm not big either! The ultrasound lady was really pushing down trying to get her to move, it was actually painful on my right hip and the next day I felt sore like you said. I was fine a few days later. Im sure all is fine, baby is pretty safe in there :) xx

They are trained professionals that do hundreds upon hundreds of these scans. I have NEVER heard of anyone having any complications due to a scan where they have pressed too hard. They sometimes have to push quite hard to see difficult parts.

Please don't worry. The baby is very well padded in there. Your muscles may be aching but the baby is fine.

Rest up a bit and drink lots of water, as PP said you shouldn't have anything to worry about from the sonographer they are highly trained. I get where your coming from though I had a bit of a worry like this after my 12 week scan :hugs:
Hope you feel better :flower:

I was sore after mine as well. I'm very tiny, skinny, size 00 pants and my belly really isn't that big yet. So I feel you. I think sometimes they have to push hard to get good measurements!! I wake up on my belly sometimes and I'm sore for a few hours
But I can't help what I do in my sleep

me too. and she warned me that I would be. He was very stubborn at the nineteen week ultrasound and refused to show his heart. so she tried really hard for a really long time. sore belly, sore muscles and then I had to go back and do it again three weeks later.

Mine also pushed down really hard and I'm also not big. It just felt kind of weird afterward but I never thought to feel worried, actually. I assume she knew what she was doing. And he keeps on moving around.
I wouldn't worry, honestly.

No... It is not normal and just because they are "trained" doesn't mean they know what they are doing all the time... Do you know how many freaking doctors get sued for malpractice??? A LOT! If a tech is pushing too hard something needs to be said. I've had 3 kids, I'm small and I've never ever had a tech push hard. I've heard of this happening though and I asked my tech why some women say it hurts and she says that they shouldnt be if they are doing it right. But I doubt your baby is hurt... I'm just upset that it happens cause it shouldn't. I've heard of this mainly happening at gender scans because those people are the least trained on those machines.

She may not have pushed down too hard at all.

I was having a poke around over the weekend to feel my uterus, I wasn't pushing hard at all and obviously didn't hurt myself but for a few days I was very aware of my lower stomach and either my uterus or the muscles above it have been quite tender.

Our muscles are already stretching, it doesn't take much at all for them to be tender.

Try not to worry :hugs:

Thanks so much for all the replies. I have to go back in two weeks because they couldn't get all the pictures. I'll most definitely ask the tech to be more gentle. It is frustrating to think she may have been pushing hard for no reason... :( Praying baby is okay since I felt her a good bit last night.
