Sorry for crashing and was wondering if anyone could offer me any advice please.

Hiya, first i want to say sorry for gate crashing as im still on the TTC board but i was just wondering if anyone would be able to offer me sum advice.

2 years ago i lost my right ovary due to having a 15cm cyst on it, my gyne said my left one looked a little more prominent (dont know what he meant by this) but it looked 'ok' anyway im just about to start my 9th cycle TTC and have been getting some pain in my left ovary so i have made a appt on the 20th feb at GP as im worried it could be another cyst. Anyway i know we have only been activly trying to concieve for 9 months but we havent been using contreception for 2 years as we werent dead set against another child and if it happened it happend, anyway it has never happend. I was going to mention it to the GP and ask her what she thinks we should do, what i was wondering is what is usually the 1st steps the GP will take in regard to tests etc, and what to expect. Any advice would be very much appreciated just so i know what to expect.

(i had my daughter when i had both ovaries so not sure if my right one was the only one that worked)

Hey Claire

Sorry for all the probs you have been having.

I think if the GP were to refer you for the 'standard' tests he would do blood tests - days 21 and 3-5 to check on whether you are ovulating and also how well you ovulate. They may also do an SA test on your OH to see how he is. Then they will take it from there.

thank you thats all i wanted to know, the other thing i thought is if my OH went to the GP and explained would he be reffered for a sperm test or would it have to be triggerd from me going to the doctors? xx

We both went together to ask about tests and our GP, we have the same one, said OH could just make an apmt and he's give him the referral letter and the sample pot (lol). I think it might be different from place to place as to procedure, but thats what we were offered as far as SA goes.
