im now thinking of putting in a CS application. in the past ive heard of people refusing to pay anything.

how is it that some people can get away from paying child support even when the CSA are involved.

i didnt really want to go through all the hasle but every penny in my sons child trust fund

any tips/advice will be greatly appreciated

thanks

Hi hun,
My sons dad has " gotten away " with it for just over 4yrs now. He would start work the csa would arrange payment plans & he wouldn't pay Then it went to attachment of earnings but the csa take 8-12wks to contact the employers meaning he gets 8-12wks of free wages before they take anything but he dont stay he just leaves & gets another job then the 8-12wk starts all over again if you're with me. Each time he makes an arrangement to pay they have to give him that opportunnity despite knowing full well he's doing it to bide for time & given his track record they shouldn't allow it but they do.
On their website it also claims they will take nrp's to court if they fail to pay or repeatedly not pay ..I've asked for the last 2 yrs for them to take him to court but of course nope they haven't dont that either, They constantly say they'll ring me back & never do. They really aint worth the hassle & stress they bring but anything out of them is a bonus i guess.
Good luck with your claim hun x

single dad sorry i have no advice but didnt want to read and run,
and dizzy moo.. id ring up the csa every other day until i get a answer =] x

Hey,

My OH has a daughter with his ex. The CSA contacted him in Jan and recently sent a letter to us today saying because he hasnt paid since jan they will be taking £308 from his wages at the end of the month! What they do is send a letter to his employer to take the £308 out of his wages when they take his tax and national insurance. If the employer fails to do so they will be taken to court! It helps if you have the nrp National insurance number so the CSA know where they are working!

Then on another side my dad didnt pay maintenance for me or my bother he "got away with it" his employer lied to the CSA and told them my dad didnt work their. There was nothing the CSA could do....and they couldnt prove he had a job!

Good luck :) x

I would if i could afford it hun, I used to do this but its costing far to much money to keep ringing them. I'm not on the phone so have to use my mums landline & pay her its just to expensive to keep ringing them to chase something they should be sorting already, I email them using their online site & i usually get phonecalls back but the last few have been ignored *sigh*

thanks everyone.

mmmh, dont know what to do now.

the thing is, she refused to turn up at court (twice)when i applied for a residence order,
im guessing she's going to ignore the csa letters. fingers crossed they do a really good job and get the money from her employer or if she's on benefits i'd think that would be easier for csa to get the money.

im starting to have second thoughts now

If she is on benefits chances are you will only get a fiver.....sucks I know but hey its better than nothing :D xx

Does she have a job?

CSA application form asks for employers adress and phone number.

I only sent my CSA application off 2 weeks ago so still waiting.

I'd say for the sake of filling in a form or making a phone call its worth a try

Good luck x

yes I think it does. If you go on the website the question is "Please tell us the number of other children living in the non-resident parent's household"
it doesnt have to be HER child...I think it still gets taken into account xx

My sons dad is on JSA, also has another child and we both get £2.50 a week for our boys.
Rubbish amount really, but its something.
And yes it does get taken into account if there are other children in the house, as they look at it that they are helping to support them.
xx

I would say its worth filling out the forms and seeing what happens. I am getting very little from FOB to help with LO but cos we still have a flat in joint names (would have cost damn near £1000 to get rid of it early) I am having to be very careful while he is still paying his half of the rent. As soon as that stops I am going to the CSA. On his wages he should be paying me £60 per week! And I am getting £70 a month. Just cos he wants to 'be young and have a life'.
