Can anyone suggest a safe but not expensive car seat that I can buy for my parents' car? We have the Maxi Cosi Axiss in ours which is brilliant because of it turning which helps get LO in and out, but it takes up so much space and is expensive.

The grandparents probably only take LO in their car at the most once a week. At the moment he just about fits his Britax group 0+ car seat by weight, but his head is starting to get too tall for the seat back and his legs too long for facing rearwards. And when he's totally grown out of it we can't keep taking our Maxi Cosi out of our car to put in theirs etc.

I've seen the Mamas and Papas "1-2-3" in the Asda baby event and when I googled it it also appears to be on sale in Argos (not definite it's the same seat, but it looks it). Anyone got any experience of that seat?

Any suggestions very welcome!! Thanks :flower:

My mum and dad both have the carseat that asda always have on in there baby events. They both have a car and both have that seat, its easy to fit according to my parents, it feels safe and LO looks safe and comfortabe. Ill try and find a link to the one i mean

I've got a Maxi-Cosi Priori one from Mothercare which we bought in a sale and only use as a spare as we then got an ERF seat instead for my car.

It was about £70 I think and although I wouldn't use it all the time its a solid seat and Tom was comfy using it.

We have a britax one that we were given for my parents car - i think it's probably quite a basic one but it's pretty good for an occasional use.

We have a Maxi Cosi Tobi as a "spare carseat" (both husband and I have Maxi Cosi Mobi in our cars - not really possible to switch between cars...). Not sure on the prices, but it is a very nice carseat and very easy to switch between cars...

hi we have mamas and papas 123 carseat from argos for 59.99 we liked it so much we have it for my car oh car and the grandparents i really reccomend it xx

We got a pampero seat from Halfords, was £60. Is a good seat for occasional use. X

i have the axiss too and my mum bought one from kiddicare think it was on offer for 39.99 instead of 90 IMO i think the straps on the one my parents got are alot easier to tighten than the axiss LO is just as comfy in it too it reclines also x

we have the asda one from the baby avent in my inlaws car.
its good enough for short journys and use in there car.

Thanks for your help everyone - some great suggestions for me to research!!

Went to our usual baby shop today where we've bought a few things from before, just to see what seats they would recommend (they also do online sales so usually prices are very competitive).

It's a lot more expensive , but we're now wondering about the Britax Duoplus - mainly because it has ISOFIX which is so much easier than keep seatbelting the car seat into ours and my parents' cars (and my parents are technophobes!), but also we liked Britax from our Group 0+ seat and they usually have good safety tests. We moved the Axiss today from one side of the car to the other (with the help of our friendly shop-people!) and there's just no way we could keep doing that one over and over!!!! Maybe there are easier ones out there! Again the baby Britax one we had was so simple on Isofix and with the seatbelt.

Will definitely research all the suggestions though - i'm a bit of a crazy researcher when it comes to purchasing anything like this!!

Anyone got the Britax Duoplus?

I have a babystart group 1-2-3 car seat for spare, as I have an ERF in my car, thats not all that easy to switch between cars! It only gets used about once a month though, it's fine for that.. but I'd never consider it for heavy use.. well actually, I'm a bit biased, coz I'd never consider ANY forward facing seat for heavy use until she's a couple of years older! lol

We got 2 Nania ones in a sale last year (cant think where, but it was online!) they were £20!

ETA: this is the carseat

this is the one ASDA usually have in the baby event, we have this as a spare and have no complaints
