I went to my GP on Monday for my back pain and he confirmed I have SPD starting up again and has referred me for physio. Not entirely sure what they will be able to do though?

My hip has cracked a couple of times this past week to the point where it felt like it was almost about to pop out of the socket too and since then I've noticed my hips kind of clunk whenever I take a step. Is it connected to the spd?

I had spd in the front and back during my first pregnancy but it never affected my hips and I was too naive too seek out help.

Anyone else starting to suffer now? I'm worried how things might progress with having two young children and and I hoped to work until 36 weeks as a nurse on a chaotic admissions unit.

Re the hips - yes that's part of SPD, your pelvis is very loose, which is what SPD is basically, so you feel a funny achey, clicky grinding feeling in your whole pelvis area.

I'm under physio, tbh they told me on my first session there's not much they can do to help it get better, they just help you learn to walk properly (amazing how wrong we can be walking lol), sit, stand, lift etc to stop it hurting so much and it getting worse. They'll also give you pelvic floor exercises & lower tummy breathing type exercises to strengthen the muscles around that area & help keep your pelvis moving so much. If you really struggle, further along they might give you a bump support belt or in bad cases even crutches.

It's not nice! Really hope you feel better soon.

Also - you might find it gets better as baby turns head down & engaged as that secures your pelvis in place more. And after birth you should feel better straight away, so it's not forever :)

In this pregnancy and my first I've had bad pains in my back and hips but it eased off after a few weeks or so and never got any worse.

I told my mw about it and she offered me acupuncture. I'm not sure how much help it would have been but might be worth looking into it?

Yup that hip pain is part of it. I bet having the other little ones is just making it worse this time. I stopped working a month ago but if I would have had to continue then i would have definitely tried one of the support belts. I've heard a lot of good things about those, if they're used before the pain starts. Someone in my pregnancy group also uses that kinesiology tape that athletes use. Hope you get some relief and are able to work as long as you want to :)

Spd over here but no hip pain mostly public bone pain! It sucks.

Yep I've got it too. It feels so much worse when I'm lying in bed on a night, my hips and my bum ache so much! Ive got physio on 2nd feb so im hoping they will give me some tips on how to sit properly etc to try and stop some of the pain.
