Hi ladies,

I have posted this in pregnancy as well but didn't get any replies :(

I haven't been diagnosed as having SPD but I have tremendous pain when turning over in bed/getting up after periods of rest/getting out of car and have been told it does sound like SPD. In the last day or two I have pain in the same place - centre of my pelvis - when I am sat still. Is that normal? Also, generally how soon after giving birth does the pain go?

Thanks :flower:

yes sounds alot like it to me... I get a burning sensation in middle of pelvis...On Kaleb it started around 23 weeks I ended up having physio, wearing a support belt and using crutches...I had a water birth and didnt feel the spd atall...I also BFed which apparantly can make the hormones present for longer so mine has never really gone and im now 13 weeks preg and its bad already so not a good sign lol....For alot of people it goes a few weeks after birth..
You can research loads from online..Good thing is youve not got long to go...\try to keep knees together when getting in/out of car/bed and also bath (Last one impossible lol) dont cross your legs and dont over do it

Hey -just like to add - there is a spd /pgp support thread in pregnnacy forum where I have had lots of great support.

I have spd -had symproms since 13 weks, and have been on crutches since 16 weeks.

Speak to your midwife, but even better self refer to physio dept at your hospital for assesment and diagnosis, advice , core strengthening exercise and if required you may need aids (either now or later in prgnancy) such as support belt / tubigrip/ crutches.

I had spd late on in pregnnacy with my last child too, but not severe -painful climbing stairs and getting in/out of bed/ car/ bath etc. The pain lessened straight after the delivery of my son, but on stress was always present. Like if I climbed a LOT of stairs, or had a night out dancing, or even when my period was due -I got an ache in my pelvis.
This time around, I have been told to expect to be on crutches after the birth for at least several weeks and the recovery could take months.

Hope you are feeling better and not in too much pain.

Take care xx

i have SPD aswell, and i am on crutches and wear a support belt. I have been told to hire a wheelchair for when we go on holiday in 2 weeks which i have done under protest, but at least i have it there just incase.
contact your midwife about getting physio.
this is my 3rd pregnancy with SPD and the more pregnancies you have you see the signs earlier.
hugs
