I know my situation may be a bit different...I am newly married but we have been trying for 7 months now. I am 23 years old and have not been to the doctor since I was 16 years old. I never thought I would want to have a baby but now I'm dying to know whats going on here. I am going to be honest and say that I have had an std as a teenager that would cause me to have irregular cells in my cervix...thats the last thing I heard when I last visited the doctor. I have been so busy with working and trying to get my life together I skipped out on signing up for health care and what not cause now I am out of a job and I need assistance...I'm hoping someone can tell me a similar story and their outcome and of course if they have finally been seen to conceiving. I need a doctor,a job,and a prayer! Thanks for reading!

Also I was once on birth control and have been having the worst irregular periods...i would go almost a year before I start bleeding and almost a year of bleeding... I need prayer and an answer!

Does your DH have insurance you can get on? Depending on when you lost your insurance, usually you have 30 days to add to a spouse's plan or if open enrollment is coming up?

I'd say it would be best to get in to a doctor if it's been 7 years before TTC. You want to be sure you are in a healthy state before hand to ensure a healthy pregnancy. Also, insurance is helpful as pregnancy costs can be high especially delivery (are in in U.S. or elsewhere??)

As far as your concern with your cervix and past infection, if it was HPV, which is really very common, that shouldn't impact your ability to conceive or have a healthy pregnancy assuming no cancer developed (though another good reason to get in to the doctor to get checked out).
