Doctor seems to think they're normal but 1% normal sperm doesn't seem good to me??

Hi

your results are average bar the morphology over 5% is considered average. You'll need a second SA to see if you have a morphology issue this result may be a one off

:) good luck

Sorry just saw your reply, thanks so much for the reply. Doesn't seem right that everything looks good yet that's only 1% :-/ xx

I just replied to your other thread, but just wanted to say that the results are very good (other than morphology). I would ask to have the sa repeated in a few weeks. Also, I've read that morphology is one of the most subjective measurements as different lab techs may consider different sperm "normal." I'm in the same boat as you, so message me anytime if you want to talk.

Also, the longer it has been since he last ejaculated, the lower the morphology and motility...older sperm tend to have more issues. 3-4 days of abstinence tends to give the best results.

we had the same result and have been told its fine and Morphology doesn't matter

I am so scared though I mean 1% normal means the other 99% are abnormal, they can not find anything esle wrong with us dnd I am not able to get pregnant???
:-(

There are things hubby can take to increase morphology. They include-

Co Enzyme Q10, VitC, Zinc, Selenium.

Plus remember its out of 30 million= still a chance to conceive

I know its a pain but remember it only takes one.

We're confused about my hubby's SA results too. The first SA said all good except motility was slightly low. They repeated & second SA said all good except now his morphology was 3% :dohh:

He did some research and found that the guidelines had changed:-

When he went for his results my stupid cow of a GP told him "Oh well if it's morphology then IVF is your only option I'm afraid" - he came back gutted, tactless wench! Luckily my new consultant has ordered a repeat SA to see if it was just a one-off so maybe you could get a repeat test for your DH too?

Good to read here that stuff can be done to improve morph as we were told you couldn't do anything as it's genetic

Thanks so much for the replied ladies :)) only just seen these. Thanks future mama you've made me feel loads better :D I haven't a clue what the numbers mean and for some reason there's little info on good count and decent motility but terrible morphology :-/ I can't understand why they're good but morphology is so poor!!

Our letter said 48 hours, think it was just over 48 hours so it was within the right time. Annoying!

I know ivf definitely isn't our only option. I have done tons of research and morphology is related to lifestyle, diet etc along with over heating of that area. OH is on a cocktail of vitamins, zinc, wellman, but mainly antioxidants (vitamin E and grapeseed oil) and high strength vitamin C to eradicate free radicals (pollution, cigs, even over exercising as he plays a lot of footy) pyconogel is supposed to be brilliant bit very pricey.
He's stopped drinking totally which is a big deal. Tbh his lifestyle was bad, binge drinking most weekends, lots of crappy food etc. Now wears loose pants and boxers as much as possible. No hot baths. Also calcium and potassium is important so he has the bananas and lots of milk every day. Also lots of organic food where possible and little saturated crap.

We don't know if this will work but if not then I have no idea what will. It sounds obsessive but its worth a try!! Xx

I don't know if you have GNC's there, but my husband's Morphology was 5% and we were told that's abnormal- the only thing the Doctor is having him do it take Mega-Men vitamins and we will retest in 3 months

Had first NHS (UK) fertility appointment yesterday. They don't even bother to look at morphology???!!!! The doc said its the nucleus inside that counts, eh???

Anyway my hubby's morph has been 7% and 5%, specialist told us (Napro) that the 'normal' for morphology had been reduced to 4%. So that or over is considered normal.

I just don't get how a low percentage can be good.

Hi im sorry to impose on your thread but my partner has not long had his sperm count analysis and we are waiting on the results. He has just advised me that he wasnt meant to of had any beer before his test and the sat before he had the test (test was on a monday) he had a few drinks. Does anybody know if this will affect the results. I have scoured the net but cant seem to find anything thanks x

Hi muffin- I have never heard of a man having to abstain with anything other than ejaculation. We have gone to two separate hospitals here with different units for testing and neither requested anything dietary whatsoever.
