Spotting at 13 weeks :(

Hey everyone.

I just entered the 2nd trimester and already freaking out. I thought it'd be a little better by now. I woke up this morning and went to pee, and when I wiped, there was pink spotting. I called the emergency line because today is Sunday so the office is closed and tomorrow is a holiday. The midwife called me back and she asked me if I did any strenuous activity the day before. I told her I did some light exercise and she said it could be from that. And that sometimes even going up a flight of stairs can cause it. So she told me not to worry and to call back if it turns up red. She was going to have the nurse call me back Tuesday so I can come in to hear the heartbeat and give me an RH shot(I don't know what it's called.) I have A- RH blod type. At least I think that's what it's called.

Anyways, it's night now and I have no more spotting. I had more pink and brown mixed with discharged and now it's gone. I have light cramping and kind of like a dull ache around cervix. I just want to know if any one else has had this happen and been ok??? I'm so worried. we had a perfect 12 week scan and the baby was moving and jumping around.

Spicy - I had light brown spotting that lasted between 11-13 weeks. I was so worried and of course called me OB, she said it was probably caused by activity, sex, etc. it freaked me out but stopped thankfully. I'm 26 weeks now. Everything I read up on pointed to just old blood from implantation cleaning itself out.

Try not to worry - I had some spotting about 10 weeks that was due to a small tear that clotted and everything turned out fine.

Just take it easy and be sure to call the dr/midwife if you see bright red blood like a period.

I had some light brown/pink spotting at 14 weeks, and Im 17 weeks now.

I had a bleed at 14wks ( after a bike ride!) got checked out and all ok, no more bike riding is all this follows a 5day, sanitary towel every 3-4hrs bleed at 3wks, happy to report baby just kicked about 16 times in less than 2mins do yep-everything's ok now!!

It's bloomin scary though isn't it x

I would just say, like the others, to try not to worry too much and wait it out until your appt this week. You did the right thing by letting them know what's been going on and hopefully they'll be able to reassure you when you see them. I had heavy red bleeding right around the end of 10 weeks/beginning of 11 weeks, followed by a week of spotting, plus had some brown spotting again around 16 weeks. It didn't seem to be related to anything serious. I've had 2 scans since then, and baby is perfectly healthy and kicking away. More than likely, you just irritated your cervix a bit, which causes a little bit of old/light bleeding, which shouldn't affect baby at all.

I had bright red bleed at 13 weeks ( the day before my nt scan) it was never determined what exactly caused it but my bub is fine ! I do have a low placenta so it may have been caused by that but I haven't had any bleeding since, hope everything turns out fine for you xxx

Take it easy, I bled from 13 week until we lost our monkey at 23 weeks. It was just our bad luck (clot unseen on multiple scans) and were told although not strictly normal, spotting is usually fine. Keep on at them but keep your feet up
, and make sure you don't get fobbed off!

Thanks everyone for your response! At 3am I started bleeding like af. I called the midwife and told me to go to the emergency room. So I went and they checked everything and had an ultrasound and everything was fine. They also gave me a rhogam(spelling?) because of my blood type.

But nothing seemed wrong. Cervix is still closed and not irritated. There was no active bleeding. Blood work came back normal, urine test was fine. The only thing was that in the ultrasound they saw that the amniotic fluid seemed kind of low so they want me to talk to my midwife about it tomorrow when I see her. So right now, everything is good. It was just so scary!!

I had lots of bright red blood gush out all over the table in the ER when I went in for light spotting.....right in front of the nurse. I was terrified but now at almost 22 weeks our daughter is fine, try not to panic. Sounds like everything is going to be fine

I had heavy, clotty, bright red blood the night after my dating scan. Had a scan two days after to show that baby was fine, I just had some kind of haemorrhage on the wall of my uterus. Xx

I thought the same thing.....like it was just ruining the fun of pregnancy. Every day that goes by will make you feel more confident that it'll be OK. Once your baby stars kicking you you'll know he/she is OK and feel so much better...shouldn't be too long now!

I had pink spotting with clots at 14+6. Went to ER, they found nothing wrong. At 15+3 I had bright red bleeding with clots. That time scan showed I had a tear in placenta with active bleeding. I went on bedrest for two weeks. The bleeding stopped and the tear was healed two week later. I am now 21 weeks. Bleeding can be for so many reasons and in most cases everything is fine! I'm learning that our bodies are very resilient and designed to carry out babies to term, even through scares like these. Good luck to you!

Thank you ladies! I'm finding that things like this are normal but my goodness so stressful and scary! I just hope it was the last time it'll happen.
