Did I someone mention these?

Like most stairgates have a bar running across the floor - I don't fancy one of these on my stairs tbh & fairly sure I seen one mentioned not too long ago that is bar free?!

Make sense? lol

Lindam one that we have is floor bar free. I got it from Littlewoods. ;)

we have ours at the top of the stairs on the landing because the space is too small for a standard baby gate. really simple to use but Rhys hasnt figured out how to open it yet (you need to push the button down and in) plus if he ever was to open it it makes a clicky noise if you dont keep the button held down so it would wake me up in the night. it puts my mind at rest knowing that the baby gate will wake me up if he was ever to open it!!

Crafty chap

I'm more worried about tripping over it myself - after I fell with Caitlin I'm a feeling abit paranoid about it :(

Babies r us (toys r us) have their own brand. It's wall mounted (fixed) and has no trip bar at the bottom. We had one of these at the top of the stairs in our old house and it was great. We moved into an appartement now so sold it.

At the moment if you buy 2 of them you get £5 off!!!

You could try ebay for a second hand one, we sold ours for £7.50 on ebay and it was good as new.

I'm finding cheaper options:

Is this the one you mean?

You should see if there's a Sure Start scheme in your area. You can get big discounts on stair gates if there is.

they are lots on mothercare.com without bottom bars...

£15.99 for one and £5 off if you buy 2 of them (if you need one at the bottom of the stairs or on the kitchen door.

Sorry product code 708208, put this into the product search on babies r us website.

Doesn't say anything about the £5 offer? :(

Doesn't say anything about the £5 offer? :(

go to Babies R Us (Britains Baby Superstore) - click safety from the list on the left - on the next page has options of products and on right has box saying "save £5 when you buy 2 safety gates - Click on this. The first gate £15.00 is the one i was talking about. If you add 2 to your shopping basket it automatically deducts £5 from your bill.

Hope this helps. Did you have a look at ebay?:hugs:

My health visitor gave me a form where i could buy baby safety equipment and it got delivered to my local baby clinic. We got 2 baby gates like the ones your looking at for £7.50 each. Don't know if yours offers the same.

How do you find out?

You could try your HV or look on here https://www.surestart.gov.uk/surestartservices/settings/fundedsettings/

It's worth a phone call for the money you could save.
