Strange title? Yes. But thats how my life is with this TTC lark at the moment. I'm stuck because I have to lose weight. How much bloody weight do they need me to lose? Scuse the language. I lost nearly 4 stone last year, and its still not enough. Starting to get really frustrated now. All thats happened since February last year is an MRI. Which only showed what they saw in the internal ultrasound they did on me on our first appointment. Polyps. Large ones. Nothing else will be done until I'm down to a BMI of 30.

Thing is, every second person I see either pregnant or with a baby or young child is bigger than me! Its just so discouraging. :nope:

I haven't posted on the boards for months, but now I need some encouragement so am trying to get more involved.

Basically, I'm wanting to know if I'm the only person that has found it so hard to get anything done due to weight issues?

thanks for reading my long winded post!

I'm sorry that you haven't received much help.
Everytime I was ttc, the docs always told me that there was nothing the could do before I lose the weight. I went on diet for all my pregnancies (because I did put the weight back on again after having baby).
In 2011, the last doctor I saw about it told me to loose at least 10% of my weight. (i have PCOS). Since then I did loose some weight, but had recurrent miscarriages, so the problem lied somewhere else.

However, in your case, I don't understand why they wouldn't at least do something about the polyps. It could be all that prevents you from becoming pg.
but I'd say keep up the good work, continue losing the weight it can only be good for and for future bubba. Also just to let you know, I only became pg for ds1 once I reached 92 kg, it was 95 for ds2, amd this pg was 99 (but I kept losing due to morning sickness). So you never know when your body will start to react to the weight loss.
Have you talked to your doc recently about all the efforts you made?

GL with everything.

Thanks Ummi. Back in february, we got the results of my MRI, and the consultant said he wanted me to lose more, i was already at 96kg, he wanted me down to 88kg (bmi 30) before they would think about doing something about the polyps. We were supposed to get anothe appointment in july but havent heard a thing since. Why havent i contacted them yet? Busy shift working and havent lost the weight so im embarrassed to. If i was to ring the clinic, could i talk to a nurse who woukd know what to do rather than a receptionist do you think?

Where are you? In the US or UK?

I know the feeling of being embarassed to see the docs because you haven't lost the weight.
Try and see those last kgs as the last few meters in a race, the ones that are harder and where you have to give it all you've got. It's tough, but ho so worth it!

What helped me everytime I was trying to lose weight was to really focus on my goal : having a baby. I could have never done it otherwise.

Have you got any help to lose the weight? I mean slimming club, or something similar. Also, have you been tested for pcos? Because PCOS is a vicious circle, for the same amount of calories it makes one put one more weight than someone without it. It also makes it harder to lose the weight with same amount of exercise and the more weight you put on, the worst pcos gets.
I hope you haven't got it, but if you havent been tested for it, then it may be worth a try to ask you doc about it too.

I'm in the UK. Grampian region in Scotland. I wasn't having a problem losing the weight to be honest. I'm not all that comfortable with people so I was concentrating on healthy eating, swimming twice a week and doing an interval training DVD most days. I'm getting back to that now, and had a serious overhaul of my diet which I had let lapse over the summer because we were really busy at work.

No, no-one has ever mentioned PCOS to me. At least not directly. It may have been one of these things my GP ruled out at the start

I see. Docs in the UK, will absolutely want you to reach that target before they do anything. I'm sorry.

But you haven't got a lot of weight to lose now and it's great that you're getting back on your healthy routine. You'll get there!
