This might sound weird, but my 14-month-old boy often stands on the side of his foot. I think it's making him a bit slow to stand and walk (no walking yet).
He tries so hard to stand without support but it's so difficult for him. His body seems normal and healthy otherwise, though. He was basically on track for other milestones. He does the side-standing thing both in shoes and barefoot.
Has anyone heard of this??
Thanks!

I believe the condition is known as 'foot overpronation' - is/was he a generally floppy or flexible baby? Just wondering about possible mild hypotonia or hypermobility that could be affecting his joint and muscle strength. You could always ask to see a paediatric physiotherapist to get some ideas or answers. I found it very helpful when I had some concerns about how my daughter was holding one of her arms/hands (no issues and it resolved on its own, but speaking to the physio was invaluable with regard to my own sanity).
