Elsie is approaching 2.5 and has been showing signs for being ready to ditch the nappies. After a few days of succesfully using the potty in between nappy changes, a few hours bare bottomed at home etc, we decided to bite the bullet and put her in pants all day. Today is day 2 of being out and about in knickers -she has used the potty plenty, but had 3 wee accidents yesterday and then one wee and one poo accident today. How many accidents would you say your toddler was having in the beginning? I think when we trained my eldest we didn't really go anywhere for the first 4-5 days so he was just bare bottomed at home which made it easier. I can't really remember him having many accidents out and about other than if he fell asleep in the car or if we couldn't pull over in time on a long journey. I think he was about 2 months older than what his sister is when he started.

Thomas was 2 years older when he potty trained bit in the beginning he seemed to need to pee every half hour or so and we had several accidents per day until he could hold himself for longer.

Loads of accidents for the first few days, even though I was sure she was physically ready because she was dry at night. There was more on the floor than in the potty! Someone told me to carry on for a week to give her a chance to get used to it and it all clicked on the evening of day 5. It was over the summer, so easier to stay at home but I'd say keep going for a few more days if she seems ready.

First few days we have a fair few - actually had to buy carpet cleaner! lol. but by day 3 it all clicked and had hardly any unless she was too busy playing or left it too late to get her clothes down. x

My eldest only trained at 4.5 and had one accident a day for the first four days just. My youngest was about the same age as your daughter and when she first went out had multiple accidents so I used pull ups as 'going out' pants and explained that she still had to use the toilet. It took her some time but she learned and now stays dry when out and tells me that she needs the toilet. The pull ups definitely helped!

I've got some little pads left over from my son that you stick inside their pants (a bit like sanitary towels!), so I've been using them when we go out rather than pull ups. If I put a pull up on her she knows it'll hold any wee and she gets lazy!

We're just at home today (day 3) so she's got nothing on her bottom half. Hopefully that'll help it click into place a bit more.

I just potty trained my 20 mo. She was good after about 49 hours of training. then a week later would have a day of like 5 accidents in one day and then a few days of none. I think it's normal. I dont recommend pull ups like you said because then she just goes in them! she's been accident free for a few weeks now and I still ask her when we are out and about if she has to go. It can be annoying at first but at least she goes!

Well all kids are different. My daughter did the same, got lazy and just peed in them but I had no choice but to take her with me whenever I went out so it was that or she constantly wet herself in public. They worked for us until she got the hang of holding it when out and about though. :) She'll get there, I hope the pads help!

I think its good you have gone straight out. My son was fully trained in the house for 2 months before i started him outside of the house and it was a long road! Wed go to the toilet before we went, when we got there, halfway through, on our way home haha but very few accidents really as we went sooo much. He has been trained since April 2016 inside the house and July outside and honestly still has a few dribbles when were out here and there.
My daughter has had about 4 accidents ever and i think its because we just went out and didnt let her be naked constantly.

I think it sounds like you're on the right track.

My dd3 has been out of nappies for 2 weeks now. She had one accident on the first evening and nothing since. went straight to pants, have kept going out as normal (she goes to nursery and hasn't had an accident there either) and I haven't had to prompt her at all, she tells me when she needs to go. She also hasn't used a potty at all (her choice, she refused to sit on it) and happily goes on public toilets with me holding her (she has a little toilet seat in the house that she uses)
She had been telling me for a few months that she needed to pee so I was just waiting for her to want to ditch the nappies. It has been completely stress free.

Apart from poops. That is a whole other kettle of fish! No accidents, but trying to get her to do one at all is a huge battle!

Well she had no accidents at all yesterday, and even woke up this morning with a dry pull up! probably just a fluke though.

She's at nursery today for the first time since going fully in to pants, so that could be interesting. Sent about 4 outfit changes as I'm not expecting her to be accident free - I think there's just too much going off for her to remember every time. She might surprise me though, fingers crossed.

At the minute she refuses to use a toilet and will only go on a potty (my DS was the opposite), so it's a bit of a faff having to carry a potty everywhere we go!

Well she surprised me! Completely accident free at nursery today, my little superstar. Hopefully she can keep it up.

That sounds great. We were having about 8 accidents a day for the first 3 days or so. Then maybe 4 on the fourth day. And then a few a day after that here and there for maybe 2 weeks. We stayed at home for the first 4 days and then she went back to nursery (with lots of changes of clothes) and then on the weekends for those first 2 weeks we literally didn't go anywhere (live in a very rural area, so it's a long drive to get any place and I couldn't justify it). After about 2 weeks, no accidents really ever. I'd say she's doing great.

I'm so pleased with how she's doing! She's only had 3 accidents in the past week, 2 of them at nursery on Friday, none at all since then. On Monday we went out for the day an hours drive away and she made it there and back dry. Ive even managed to get her to go on the toilet a few times the past 2 days, which she absolutely hated before.
