i originally made my sons home made mobile for his room which i love and noticed it got many comments. I created a few for friends and family as gifts and again had great reviews. I am now trying to sell them and not sure how to go about it? Where are the best places to advertise. Ive tried a FB page but that dosnt seem to be going any where at the moment :( i suppose its only been a few days. Any advice would be appreciated

Because of the 'audience' you have to think in your area to start with where will parents see your advertising. What about local paper? NCT groups? Sure start groups? Hospital? etc. etc. Make a list of places where you will find your target audience? Being home made, what about the local farm shops? The thing is, you may well have to pay for some advertising, but you have to weigh up whether it will be worth it. What about car boots? or local crafts, Fetes? Depending on the advertisng rates, what about on here?

Do also bear in mind you need to register yourself as self employed with HMRC so you can start paying tax (it may be a while until you start 'making' enough to pay tax, but you still have to for revenue purposes and national insurance.

Also have a look here:

They are really helpful on all things from Tax to advertising to business plan writing.

Good luck!

Have you got any local buy and sell groups you could post in? Markets you could set a stall up at?

have a look at Folksy which is a uk based selling platform for handmade goods.

You will need to register with the IR as soon as you are offering items for sale.

you can showcase your goods on Craft Juice which is a free to use service to show off your handmade items. https://craftjuice.com
