The closer I get to my due date, the more I'm starting to freak out about doing this by myself! Its one thing to be pregnant alone, but its another to take care of a crying baby all day and night by yourself! I've never even held a newborn before! Or fed a baby! Or did anything baby-related!

Blahhhhhhhh

Honestly Rae, you'll be fine!

I wasn't even maternal until I held Maya in my arms :)

And the crying baby thing - if you're calm, baby is calm. I truely believe that. I'm very relaxed with Maya & seriously she's so chilled out & only really cries for a feed. Babies aren't half as much trouble as some make out

:)

Neither did I hon! Really, and I live alone! When we got home, she was 2 days old and I ws left home with her,at first I was so scared and then it just went by itself and everything is fine...
I still have a lot to learn ofcourse but when you have a baby you just take one day at the time.
I agree with Kelly, once I held her in my arms for the first time, the mom thing just kicked in an instant!

Now so far there is no crying or hard nights so I cant tell you about that but you'll learn how to deal with that and stay calm...

:hugs:

I feel like this also sometimes as the thoughts can get quite overwhelming. I think that you should make the most of any support you have around you. Don't feel like you have to do it all on your own. If your mum or someone offers to let you get a kip whilst they watch the baby for an hour or 2 then take up on those offers. You don't have to do it alone. I'm in the exact same position as you. There are going to be days where you'll feel so on top of everything and in control and other days where your feeling so tired but that's normal every mum gets that. I think you'll be fine and it will all kick in when the time comes. Hope you feel better soon. x

You will do fine Rae!!! Dont worry about being alone, your going to figure out what works for everyone once she gets here and you get to know her.

Have you taken any pre-natal classes? They might help with your confidence level just to give you info on basic care for a newborn...

Or do you know anyone who has a baby? Your baby wont be like anyone elses, but practicing changing and feeding and stuff might make you feel better?

I agree with everyone...you will be fine!

The mothering instinct will click in and you will know what to do.
