Hiya

I am fretting a bit now as i have my HSG on monday and have been googling thinks which is naughty i know :( I have a couple of questions which hopefully someone can answer.
**On my first appointment at fertility clinic they took swabs for STI's i presume
one was chlamydia what else would that have tested for? Apparently all mine came back normal but i dont know what has been tested for and would be nice to know?
**Secondly even if my swab for chlamydia came back normal is it possible that i still have it or have had it? I thought oncve you had chlamydia it stayed until treated with antibiotics? I am worried that if i have or had it its been for a very lond time as neither i nor my partner have cheated and we have been together for over 10 years! I would have had it years. How unlikely is it that the swobs came back clear but that i have had it or have it?
**Thirdly, can you get blocked tubes from something other than an STI?

Sorry i am fretting but i just cant help myself. :(

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry until you know there's something to worry about. I had my HSG done - shit a year ago today - and it really isn't anything to be overly concerned with. Ask about pain relief and muscle relaxants before they do the procedure. I had to report an hour before my appointment time for the nurse to administer them, but i know some hospitals allow you to take your own before you go.

I had swabs taken at my first appointment too - and it was only tested for chlamydia, although they did sniff () if before they bagged it. I think chlamydia is a silent infection and most others have symptoms. When I got my results they had reported that the sample had cultured some yeasts - which is what they expect as most women apparently have a small amount of yeasts in their lady bits. I think if chlamydia is left untreated it can develop into PID which can cause blockages in the tubes. I'm not sure what else can cause blockages in the tubes, but would imagine endometriosis could have an effect.

I don't know if any of that is any use, but good luck for Monday and try not to worry....

xx

chlamidyia can only be treated wit antibiotics but if u was swabbed n they showed fine then its more than likely u dnt have it. its something they cnt miss.

thanks guys they say all my swobs were clear and they even did a smear and that was fine too. I think i am worrying more as so far wit hthe follicle tracking they have not found anything significant. I have a small cyst on my left ovary but nothing major. Only thing they mentioned was that my lining was a bit thin but then on the 11th day of follicle tracking it reached 7.1 thickness, they dsaid not great but acceptable. So far they have signed me off folicle tracking as i am ovulating and growing big follicles so they are not concerned. Just HSG to go now and i think i am worried they will find something there since they cant really find much else..........if that comes back clear i will be worrying over my hubbies sample results. He does not give them until 8th jan. In fact does anyone know how long after he has tested before he can get results? Can he just ring up for them as we dont have proper appointment with specialist to discuss everything until 26th so that would be a long wait?

Thanks once again
