Hi, just wondering if any others have sticky blood syndrome and/or high blood pressure??

I'm helen, and im 17 weeks pregnant with Non ID twins. I lost my daughter last year to stillbirth at 39 weeks, and after many tests it was found i have APS and it caused blood clots to form on the placenta, and stopped her oxygen.
In this pregnancy, i have been injecting clexane from my BFP and also a daily baby aspirin, blood tests have confirmed so far that it is working and my blood is nice and thin :)

I also have normal/high blood pressure, which theyre keeping an eye on, but more important to them ,i have a fast pulse!! They seem to worry about this more than the bp, but i have had many traces done on my heart and they are always clear.

Also, can anyone help me with something?? i will be going on a UK holiday in august, and ill be about 23 weeks pregnant. I want to get travel insurance to cover my APS, as im taking the injections, does anyone know of a good company for insurance for this condition??

Thanks

Hi don't know if i'll be of any help - but i didn't want to read and run. Firstly i'm so sorry to hear of your loss last year, i can't imagine what that must have been like.

It wasn't confirmed that i had sticky blood - all the tests came back negative, but i was advised by the fertility consultant to take aspirin 75mg. It became a crutch and i was frightened of missing one or having to stop taking them. Near the end of my pregnancy my BP started to rise and i was advised to keep taking the aspirin. I then developed cholestasis and the birth had to be brought forward to 37w 4d. Baby was breach and i needed a c section, I only had 4 days notice and had to stop the aspirin then. The consultants told me not to worry, even though my blood was thinner it would not pose any problems in theatre.

With the BP, this was only discovered because i self-referred myself because i thought i hadn't felt baby move. I went in to the hospital, and they made me go back the following day as well. They almost kept me in! After that i had regular checks by the midwife, in fact they started visiting me at home to check my BP and my urine.

On one occasion the visiting MW sent me off to the hospital saying i had +1 protein in my urine when i hadn't, it was only trace. I then spent a whole afternoon sitting in a damn waiting room.

I'm not sure what to advise about the travel insurance, sorry.

Take care,

Marie
