Hi there,

I've not posted for a while because we've been busy TTC. After 14 months we've still not been successful and I got another negative result this morning. I can't stop crying. The doctor has checked us both out & says we're both fertile, so why haven't we conceived yet? We're seriously thinking of IUI now and I wondered if anyone on here had been through it and been successful. Has anyone got any advice for us on this? Can you request it on the NHS and what does it involve? I have googled some info but speaking to someone with personal experience might help more.
What's worse is that my fiance's sister in law is 3 months pregnant after just 3 attempts. They're being quite smug about it.

Sorry for having a moan

H xx

I am very sorry about your BFN. I know its very hard but do not despair you still have options and who knows IUI might be your answer. unfortunately I do not have any relevant experience to share with you just did not want to R&R. we have been TTC for ages and went through hell with NHS but in the end they refused funding for IUI because of my hubby's sperm count. not even sure where we go from here

Hi, I'm about to start IUI on the NHS this month, had to wait awhile for it. I'm for Wales so not sure if there is any differnce in England, but you should be able to have 3 trys on NHS, thats what i've been advised.

Hoping this is it now as been ttc for ages x

Good Luck

Hey there and hiya!!

I've done the iui thing and thank god it worked and i have my beautiful little man! Like you all our tests came back normal but still getting BFN after a year of OPK, POAS, water, EPO, legs up, temp charting, grapefruit juice, multivits for him and me, fish, ooh and lots of bonking!!! You can check out my blow by blow posts in the threads history!
In Ireland you have to pay for iui, no health board funding booo!! We've just started to try again naturally cos cant really afford iui again... spent €4k last year!
Go for IUI, easy to do and it can work! Also gets you in the system with specialist who will advise you when its time to maybe go towards ivf if needed. My limit on iui was 3 goes.....bfp on the 2nd round yay!!! all the best, ask me anything about the process, i'm a nurse so have a good idea of all the options x

IUI is worth a try although it's not very successful. At best, it's a 15-20% chance of success, which is about the same as a natural conception.

I did IUI when I was 24 and it took 4 tries but I finally had my son. I recently did another 4 rounds of IUI at 34/35 and they all failed.

So that's 8 IUIs with one resulting in a bfp.

It's a lot of work, but I have to admit that even though these last 4 failed, I'm glad I did them because I would have always wondered if it would have worked and perhaps regretted not trying them.
