Hi,
My 7 mo is now on solids eating a mixture of purées, mashed foods and finger foods. I'm keen on him eating what we are and I know he can now have pretty much anything bar honey and nuts. I love home made stir fry. I tend to stir fry veg/ brown rice/ noodles/ meats, all sorts really and add my own herbs or sauces. Also the one I made tonight I added soy sauce too, is that too salty really? Would lo be ok with this or am I best sticking to boiled/steamed/grilled for him? Thanks 😊

There is nothing wrong with a stir fry but i would probably put aside a portion for lo before adding the soy sauce.

You can get reduced salt soy sauce but it's still pretty salty (0.6g/5ml serving) so I would probably set aside LO's portion and add a little of it separately. As long as you remain within LO's recommended salt intake for the day, it doesn't matter how much of it comes from the soy sauce :) You don't need to be ultra strict as long as you're not exceeding the guidelines by a stupid amount.

Thanks. I will remember that for the future 😊

i just add soy sauce to mine after ive taken LOs out. - gives hers a chance too cool down a bit too  x

Oh and be careful with the rice - great if LO is eating with you but rice should never be reheated.

Yes, stir fry is great. We tend to season it up to a certain level (a little bit of soy sauce plus sesame oil, spices, etc.), take some out for our daughter, and then season the rest to our tastes. I've only ever avoided salt altogether in the first few months. Now she's nearly 1, I try to use very little salt, but I do want her to get used to real tasting food, which sometimes has sauce or seasoning on it. I keep the added salt low, but don't totally avoid things with added salt anymore if it's important to expose her to certain tastes.

I'll sometimes reheat rice too but it can actually give you food poisoning, more so if it's been left at room temp for a while before being reheated, so would never give it to my LO.
