Hi ladies, just a quick question - I'm looking at nursery furntiture and we've just got back from Italy and LOVED the Stokke cots which they have (they are really popular there but it's a Norweigan firm I think).

They are oval shaped and convert from a small newborn cot into a junior bed so seem to last a while. It's about £600 in the UK though so much more than nursery furiture in say Mothercare of Mamms and Pappas. Has anyone used these cots before - are they worth the money?

They look fab though and just the style we were looking for!!!!

Thanks all. x

I liked these to begin with, but was worried about the buying odd shaped sheets and bedding x

I have seen them used, my sister used to nanny for a boy who had one but once the side was off and he was using it as a bed he just looked like he was about to burst out of it. I suppose it depends on the size of the child but his parent's weren't tall so I think the cot was just small...
I have seen them and they are quite funky but soooooo expensive, like ridiculously expensive but that is my opinion. If you have set aside £600 for a cot and you like it, get it.

I have seen some other cots which are around the £200 mark that are great but that's what i'm looking for.

Good luck with the Stokke decision :)

Thanks so much - I thought they might be a bit pricey but wasn't sure..... we don't have a budget for the cot really as we weren't sure what to spend/what was normal, we wanted something a bit unique but I think it's a bit much to spend.....

If you have any recommendations for cots, please let me know and thanks for replying, I really appreciate it!!! (you can probably tell, it's my first baby and it's all new and exciting for us!!!!)

Haven't used one before - they do look great though! Would look into cost of bedding if you need to get something non-standard. And I'd definiately look second hand to save some pounds.

They look nice but you need different mattresses for each stage which is an added cost. And the sheets are expensive!!

I think you're paying for the style and the name more than the quality tbh.

Good luck though :)

Ooh and check out kiddicare, there are hundreds on there :flower:

my husband would KILL me if or laugh at me hysterically if I wanted to spend that on a cot...I did Reagan's entire nursery for that amount including her travel system. But they have the most beautiful furniture out there! oh how I wish I was rick rick rick sometimes:)

I really like east coast cots and cot beds. This one...

https://www.babycity.co.uk/baby-gif...st-coast-bamboo-dropside-cot-bed-pd-2205.html

is made from bamboo, so therefore a sustainable material and has bars all around. Call me paranoid but I would prefer to see baby from all angles. It also looks pretty nice as a cot bed and relatively inexpensive :) I'm a first time mum too so I know how you get hooked into the high spec stuff...we are going for the extortionate bugaboo buggy but that, i've decided is the extravagance over and done with! Have a look at the website for cots, Boots do them as well so you can get your points :) :)

We still have vouchers for John Lewis left over from our wedding so will prob buy the nursery set from there, making it kinda free :) lol, the do have some lovely stuff tho, if a bit expensive! As for the really expensive pram, my husband got hooked on the icandy apple and my parents are happy to buy that for us! I know its not cheap, but I'm hoping it'll last a few kids! :) xx

:dohh: And the pram!!!!!!! So much to buy and so much choice. Thanks for all of your advice - will check out other cots as well. It's so exciting but daunting at the same time as there is so much so get but tonnes of time

I really really like them cots, I showed hubby, launched into a whole conversation about how nice they are, then told him the price, he laughed said 'no way - what is it gold?'
and walked off.

Think my chance of buying one is slim lol x

I have to say that the Stokke's pram reminds me of a stroller designed for the jetsons! LOL. We went to see it and try it out and hubby and I just couldn't bring ourselves to buy it because we thought it looks sooooo odd! We decided to go with the bugaboo chameleon instead. Nothing beats the handling on the stokke's pram though xx
