Thought I was doing well on the stretch mark front UNTIL i turned around infront of a long mirror. i have a purple road map on each thigh. They are defo not veins but stretch marks. suprised to get them here but I have put the weight on. Anyone else got them here? Is it too late to start using bio-oil?

bio oil doesnt work im afraid, if ur gonna get them, ur gonna get them no matter what. my worse ones are on the backs of my knees!!

I have them on the back of my thighs. You can use anything to ease the annoyance of getting stretch marks but they happen on an under layer of skin taht lotions/oils can't reach. Your call- I'm not the best on lotions or anything but I use it when I can and it helps with the stretching itchiness.

Bio oil doesn't work?? What a waste of my money I've been layering myself in it! :[

Sticky- It's fine to use if you like the way it makes your skin feel. It isn't going to help you not get stretch marks but it will make it so that if you are going to get them they are less painful/annoying and so on. I started to get them from a large weight gain that happened from stopping my birth control right before I found I was pregnant and I believe it was because the weight came so fast. Good luck and I hope you don't get them.

i would just keep my fingers crossed and use ur money to buy a cheaper moisturiser which will help to make sure ur skin doesnt itch if u do get them. i think genes has a lot to do with it.....thanks a lot mum!!

I have them on my thighs too and back of my knees and hips and pretty much everywhere but not my bump! My bump is the only place i use bio oil (hips too but some of those are pre preg). I find it makes the ones i get less itchy and sore so i keep using it. I wouldnt have bothered only i got two big bottles during the half price sale in superdrug and it seems to last a very long time so it was worth it for me for a bit more comfort.

I have some stretchmarks from my last pregnancy, inside of thighs, both butt cheeks, sides, bottom of belly, bellybutton (due to piercing) and my boobs! Sounds bad but tbh they have faded away to nothin over the years! nothin helps or prevents them but I am lathering myself in bio oil this time just for the heck of it!!

When I was pregnant I use a lot of oil for my skin. I really get fat, so after I had stresse How I can remove my stretch marks. then my friend suggest me to use dermelastic Serum and really It’s works for me. I would like recommend to all womens who have stretch mark.

Yep. Got them on the backs on my knees with my 2nd baby. I was really surprised seems i didn't put any weight on my legs lol

I haven't checked the back of my thighs but I kinda want to do that now LOL! My tummy ones from previous pregnancies are coming back out and I have some thigh ones from puberty that might be getting a re-stretch I'm not too sure... Oh well, a physical proof of what we go through for the love of our unborn baby hehe

I got them pretty badly all on my inner thighs during my last pregnancy. I really packed on the pounds, so it shouldn't have been such a surprise. I think the oils do help if you do them from the beginning. I used them on my belly and have very few there, but didn't use them on my thighs as I didn't think of it. 6 months after delivery when they were still really red and annoying, I got them laser treated and they look so much better! They are still there, but are whitish/invisible as opposed to being red and angry looking.

Nothing will stop or prevent stretch marks unfortunately. Oh how I wish there was. BUT a lot of products on today's market can reduce the appearance of them. I find that the itWorks stretch mark cream has the best rating, and worked for me. Bio Oil also helped reduce the color of my marks.

I was devastated that last pregnancy I put on 5 stone [damn sausage roll cravings, no 1 wasn't enough!!!] and so gained a vast collection of stretch marks, really deep purple ones. Post baby I did a lot of exercise and lost 6 stone but regardless if I did that or not my stretch-marks have faded so much I forget they are there.
Just keep in mind they do fade. :hugs:

I used lotion at least 3 times a day last pregnancy but I still got them in between my thighs and all over my belly. They have faded quite a bit though since I had my boy. Nithing wrong with moisturizing. It helps with the itch when tummy stretches :)

I started using Dermalmd Stretch Mark Cream twice a day at about month 3 of my pregnancy. I love the feeling of it and it has made my belly very smooth. Unfortunately, at around 24 weeks I started noticing stretch marks on the lower part of my belly and they've gotten progressively worse. I still continue to use Dermalmd Stretch Mark Cream with the understanding that some people will get stretch marks whether they use stretch mark cream or not. I like that it doesn't have much of a smell and doesn't feel too sticky when on my belly.

Topical solutions only help by about 5%. Diet and balanced hormones can lower your risk by about 50% and the rest depends on genetics too apparently.
When you gain fast excess estrogen is released causing a hormomal imbalance which then results into an uneven distribution of collagen while the body is stretching. If you lack certain nutrients your skin will be even more prone to tears.

I wrote down pretty much everything I know about avoiding stretchmarks in a recent topic Qmama79 posted (if I remember correctly). I only have a cell phone atm so it is hard for me to find but if you want hit the search option it is somewhere in the second trimester stretch mark topics. ;)

So far I haven't gotten any.
