Struggling with boys' names

When we had my son James it was the only boys' name we could agree on, so this time we're a bit stuck!

We have a few shortlisted but I don't love them and mainly I am not keen on all the shortened versions he would be called.

Nicholas
Edward
Matthew

I guess we like quite traditional names. Any other suggestions?

Our final two are Gregory and Patrick. We don't like the associated nicknames, so we're trying to find alternatives.

Out of that group I like Nicholas. It was in our top 5.

Boy names are so difficult.

Ha - my son's name is James Alexander and one of his best friends is called Luca. I really like Harrison and George but can't persuade my husband!

I like Gregory too, I hadn't really considered that one.

From your list I like Edward. I think Joseph goes quite nicely with James, or Luke?

I think William goes well with your list ! very classic, we were going to do William James for a boy but we have flipped and flopped and now somehow got onto "Everett James"
