Positive stories about subchorionic hemorrhage working out with a healthy LO? Did not know I was pregnant until recently, have had cramping an bleeding the entire time. Today I was dated at 10w3d pregnant, and also told there is a SCH behind baby's placenta which does raise my risk of miscarriage. The hemorrhage is on the small side about 1cm by 1cm, but symptomatic. I'm so worried about my baby.

I hope it is some comfort that the size of the SCH is considered quite small. I got hit by a car (auto-pedestrian accident, me beng the pedestrian) a couple of weeks ago and discovered after I was released from the hospital that I have a SCH under each sac (I'm carrying twins). Mine were 3-4 cm each. I'm seeing my OB tomorrow to find out what's going on and if they've shrunk. But the hospital felt confident enough to let me go (however I was NOT symptomatic). Are you bleeding? Did you use ivf? (Ivf babes are more likely to have SCH). What does your doc say about it all? I also want to reassure you that I have read numerous studies since my accident stating that bedrest with an SCH does NOT produce better outcomes (but follow your doc's advice, just don't want you t feel guilty about activity). Most SCH have no known cause, really you would have to be in a jarring accident as I was to have even a "probable" cause. Anyway.....take it easy, take care, and let us know how you're doing. :) :hugs:

Eta: just re-read your post and noticed you mentioned cramping and bleeding......so that question of mine was answered.

No jarring accident, not an IVF baby (A complete surprise baby, hence not knowing I was pregnant until most of the way through the first trimester.). I had been bleeding since before I got pregnant with LO though, steadily. Last pregnancy I had a large uterine polyp that bled the whole time (Was not diagnosed until after I gave birth) and they thought I might have grown back another one and was waiting on a specialist appointment when I found out I was expecting again. They couldn't find a polyp via ultrasound yesterday, just the sch, however they couldn't last time either. It's possible some of my bleeding is due to a hidden polyp not the sch alone, but it is impossible to tell. More bright red bleeding when I woke up this morning, but no cramps. Trying to take it easy, but I have a 14 month old son, so he keeps me pretty busy.

Most are reabsorbed by the body. I had one that was roughly the size of yours and found out at an 8week scan due to the bleeding it caused me. By 12 weeks it was totally gone.
Doctor did tell me however that a few days rest would help it reabsorb, and I guess it did :)

I had one in my last pregnancy and was just told that I have one this time too. It is scary to think about the what if's =/. My last pregnancy turned fine. The SCH was spotted at 8 weeks and was gone by 12. Not sure how bit it was but I was told it was small. I had my first ultrasound with this baby yesterday. I couldn't believe that I had one this time too! The dr didn't seem concerned at all and wasn't even going to bother checking on it unless I had bleeding or cramping (which so far I haven't had any bleeding and no severe cramps) but I told her I would feel better about it if we checked up on it so we are doing another scan in 3 weeks (she suggested I opt for the NT scan even though I have no risk factors simply because the tech that does them has to be specially trained with more experience and all that so she can check on the SCH for me then as well. This one is about an inch apparently (which means its currently the size of my baby...) Even though the dr didn't seem worried and I don't have any bleeding at the moment, I am trying to rest as much as possible.. good luck!

Good news! On Friday at 11w5d, at my prenatal appointment doctor did a quick ultrasound and baby was ok, but hemorrhage had obviously grown and was almost the full length of the placenta. Then, amazingly, at my NT scan in the high risk clinic on Tuesday at 12w2d...The hemorrhage was GONE. No sign near the placenta, they thought they might see a tiny bit of a clot- way over to the side and not affecting baby whatsoever and they weren't even sure it was a clot at all! Baby was moving about and wonderful. They look just like my son side on! Here is a picture at 11w5d where you can see the SCH running behind the placenta(long and thin) and then a few short days later- healthy baby and placenta! Thank you for being there for me ladies! I hope everything keeps looking up. I finally am starting to let myself believe I will get to hold this baby.

Congrats, counting!

I had spotting on and off (includng two bleeding incidents) for about two weeks, from about 5-7 weeks. They ended up giving me a scan at 6w4d since my high HCG level worried them about an ectopic, but baby was in the right place and had a good heartbeat. They saw an SCH (never mentioned how large) near the placenta and said that's what's causing my bleeding. They said it wasn't an issue at all, it will reabsorb, and they don't have any plans to monitor it (and since they already saw a heartbeat, no more scans until 20 weeks). From looking online I see that it's maybe a bit more serious than they said, but the total miscarriage risk is only 1-3, which is still a 97-99% chance of it being nothing! I'm glad that my bleeding has stopped for now, but I'm trying not to worry if it comes back. I'd feel a little bit better if it were going to be moniored, but I'm trying to just relax about it.
