Success of IUI?

Hi

My DH has been diagnosed with low T and subsequently low sperm count/morphology etc. We've been told that our options are medicated IUI and then IVF (1 go). Are there many success stories with IUI? I'm keen to start right away but my DH wants to wait another month or so of us trying SI to allow his sperm to recover (he's just come off T replacement). We've been TTC for 2.5 years now. It's all very frustrating!

For a normal healthy couple, the success rate is the same as sex, 15-20% per cycle. Lower sperm counts or lower motility will bring down the success rate. IVF success is approx 30%.

I do have one child from IUI. It took 4 cycles when I was 24. I'm now 35, and I've tried 3 rounds of IUI with no luck.
