Oliver's never really been bothered by loud noises but all of a sudden he hates the hoover and the blender  any reason why he would suddenly develop a dislike of them?

I was thinking maybe the dog has influenced the hoover bit as she runs for her life every time it comes out, so maybe he's picking up on her fear of it:shrug:..but not sure about the blender.

I don't know but for the past 2 months my lo is petrified of the hoover makes it hard to clean up!

It's a normal developmental stage. Both of mine were completely fine around the hoover until a certain age, and then they suddenly became petrified of it! It can last a while unfortunately, but I found that wearing them on my back whilst hoovering enabled me to clean!

This happened to my LO, he used to love watching me hoover while he was in his jumperoo then one day he startes screaming when i startes it up. About 2 weeks later i thought id try it out again while lo was in the room and he was fine  now he cries when i turn it off!!! lol i just cant win!
Have u tried having ur OH or someone hold him in the same room as u while u have the blender on or are vacuming? I think that helped with us as LO felt less scared and more curious x

My LO was jsut teh same as yours. He actually loved the noise of the hoover, it used to stop him crying, until he got to about 8 months, then he started screaming every time i turned it on. I had to carry him while I was hoovering to calm him down!

It just seemed to wear off after about a month or two tho, he is back to loving the hoover again!I thought it was down to the dog as well, we have a cocker spaniel and he has always been afraid of the hoover but it seems like a pretty common thing for LOs to go through!

Thanks ladies, seems pretty normal then. I was just a bit concerned that it came out of the blue. Just gonna have to try and assure him they aren't scary.

Yes, our LO bursts into tears at loud noises! God help us if we need to sneeze. :haha: She also cries if one of the neighbours says hello! She's been like this for a couple months now. I hope it doesn't last forever, I need to wait for her dad to take her out of the house to get any housework done!

My LO was just the same, she would sleep to the sound of a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner and then suddenly around 6.5 months she HATED it. I was blow drying my hair and she panicked and burst into tears as if I was being attacked by the hair dryer! I think its when babies become more aware of sound and objects. Its just a developmental stage.

Now I am like "oh noo, I wont be able to hoover when shes asleep because it wakes her up, and I now cant hoover when she's awake. What a dreadful shame ;)"

My LO still LOVES the hoover and makes lots of excited sounds and jumps about! BUT she hates the hairdryer, that makes her cry. Also bubbles! They don't even make a sound but they scare her!

Yep my boy started bursting into tears at the sound of sneezing and everytime I used the the upright hoover. I'm assuming it's a develomental thing as it seems to be passing now :flower:

Lola now screams to the point of holding her breath whilst clinging to me if the Hoover comes on.xx
