Well after an awful pregnancy which I hope to never ever repeat again, our little girl and miracle since all babies are has arrived. She was born three weeks early on 29th of may making her a may baby which is what I had wanted however the experience was not something I would have wanted at all....
After being told I had mild pre eclampsia at 33 weeks there was then a slight possibility that it could progress and end up with me giving birth before 39 weeks on top of that I had awful spd which made it unbearable to walk or lie down or do anything really and was huge, not just pregnancy huge but swollen huge too and hungry.
Anyway last monday I visited my midwife for our twice weekly check up since I had been in and out of hospital twice a week to monitor my condition, she checked my blood pressure and it had sky rocketed plus I had high protein and they needed to do another blood test as the first one revealed high pet levels whatever they are. Then overnight in hospital came the 24 hour urine test, the next day after not being able to eat anything because they wanted me to do a diabetes test, they told me my urine results indicated kidney problems so I was asked to still go through with the fasting glucose test and on top of that asked by the surgeon not to eat anything after the test incase they choose to deliver the baby via emcs that afternoon.
turns out I needed to have the section so was made to go another four hours without eating or drinking and it was horrific especially since I was terrified of the prospect of having my baby already, thank god we had organized everything in the second trimester.
So at 4pm I was wheeled off for a semi emergency section, no planning, no nice music or atmosphere as we had planned for my elective on the 8th june so i entered a cold calculated atmosphere with a nice nurse to sit by my side while the injected the spinal into my back and it HURT like hell and the minute it kicked in I dropped in blood pressure and felt hot, sweaty and like I could faint but was lying on the operating table so I couldnt move and the sensation in my legs was terrible, not being able to move them when my whole body was aching to. The lovely nurse chatted by my side while they operated and then after alot of tugging and pulling and on my part, shaking like a leaf they lfited my little girl out and the first thing I said was "it is a girl right?" lol and they showed her to me briefly before having her whisked away to be checked and then put on oxygen which was scary
seeing how big she was for a 37.5 week baby made me smile and then after ten m inutes my husband stood by me with our little girl.
in the recovery room I got to hold her for five minutes before she was taken to the special care baby unit as her lungs had not developed fully and she was full of mucus and was grunting.
I got to hold her close by me two hours later until the wee hours of morning in the baby unit and it was an intense emotional beautiful time
she is now four days old and feeding slowly as she has an immature gut but we are doing all we can to encourage regular feeds and she is an absolute delight
she weighed 8lbs60z at birth
my husband has been fantastic looking after her while i recover from what was a rather traumatic unexpected birth and section but worth it for our little summer rose
