At what age/weight can you put baby into the normal trolley with the seat instead of the baby one?

I put him in the normal one when he looked too big for it/when he'd reached 9kg... because that was what the weight limit on the asda baby seats was.

My LO went in one at about 7 months - might be a bit young but he screamed blue murder and arched his back in protest when we tried to put him in the baby seat! He was sitting well by then, though, and we got a strap from the supermarket customer service desk to secure him! He LOVES sitting up and riding round the supermarket, hanging on to the trolley handle!

We put finley in one when he could sit up by himself (around 7.5months) he prefers sitting in the trolley because he's so nosey he can have a good look around now x

I would say when LO can sit up well on their own-whether thats 6 months or 8 months whatever. If you are going in for a big shop then make sure LO is well awake etc as they could get fed up sitting up in it for a long period of time:flower:

Marley was about 7 months (and he is tall for his age) but could hold his head up. he loves it but stole a chick teddy from the toy isle last time i was in Tescos when i wasnt looking - thief at 10 months!

I'd go by when your LO can sit up unaided rather than by age as the seats in trolleys haven't got much in the way of back support.

I'm reaching the point now where my son is getting a bit big for the baby seat (but not at the weight limit) but still a bit too small for the child seat!

Agreeing with the ladies before me, when your LO can sit up unaided. Amy 1st went in the trolley seat (instead of the baby one) when she was around 8 months old.

my little girl has been sitting up unaided for awile but she could only sit for so long b4 she toppeld now she can sit on her own playing for ages unless she gets bored and throwes herself back haha. so anyway i sat her in one last week in tesco and she loved it she looked quite small init as she is small in hight but chunky but she sat init really good for awile till she got tired and she started moaning then we put her back in her pram. but i still mainly use the baby trollys.

i would say from when they can sit unaided for awile and even then not for 2 long as they can get tired. u can get the trollys with a baby seat and a normal seat so u could use both if they get tired

has anyones lo fallen out of one.. there are no straps on the ones over here thats what I'm mostly worried about..

I first put Bella in one a couple of weeks ago, she loved it! Having a good nosey around, she does get fed up after a bit though. She's never fallen out.

oh we have straps in the ones by me. i thought they all was the same ive never seens ones without a seat belt type thing:wacko:

Some trolleys don't have the straps here Matthew's been fine and he loves to lean down to pick things out of the trolley and throw them on the floor  But agree on getting one with a baby seat as well if they get tired!

I would say when they are sitting up confidently.

Likewise, when they're sitting confidently, and for at least as long as you expect to be shopping for. It's pretty tiring for them to be sitting up for extended periods of time!

About 7 months, once she could sit really well. She loves shopping now!

I put her in when she could sit up happily and for long periods of time (it was around 7 months i think)

If the trolley doesn't have straps i sometimes put her in the trolley with the normal seat and baby recline seat that sit side by side. It means that the normal seat is smaller and the baby recline seat is right next to it so they have a barrier so they wont fall out iykwim
