I'm a little bit miffed, to be honest.

My and OH collectively make just under £30,000k per year. we are not on any benefits of any sort.

When i go on mat leave, i will recieve just the government standard rate.

Can i ever apply for this grant? I get the feeling i'm going to get a no! :hissy: Which would be pretty unfair as I have worked my ass off so far!

have a look at this web page; it may give you some help.
fingers crossed!
I am also only going to get maternity allowance once I finish work and my husband's job is on the line so we are a bit worried about money for the future too. Long story to explain but I won't have a job to go back to either so doubley nervous. I think i'll have to look and apply for jobs after a few months of being a mum! : (

I understand what you mean. I'll be bitter if I dont recieve it, what kind of message does that send out? My 16 yr old cousin intentionally got pregnant so she didnt have to work. (Honestley, her words, not mine!)She's never worked a day in her life, and gets everything handed to her. It's be a shame to get nothing if i worked all the way through!

I wouldn't hold your breath tbh... 30k a year is a decent income by Government standards, I'm almost sure that working tax credit stops after around 15k and you need to be eligible for that to claim the SS grant (Going by the criteria on that link).

Try https://www.entitledto.com and it might tell you on there, it'll also give you an idea of what tax credits you will get once the baby is here.

The system is pretty messed up really.

Don't forget to claim the £190 healthy eating grant, anyone can get that.
