Hi ladies

I had a sweep today. Nothing to report at the moment. Was 1cm dilated but cervix was still long. The MW did give me a good sweep though, and I am having another on Sunday if nothing happens by then.

Anyway, I was going to go swimming tomorrow...and then suddenly wondered if, after having the sweep, the chlorine etc might irritate or be a problem. My waters are still intact so I'm not worried about infection. I just forgot to ask the midwife, and wondered if anyone had any advice or had been swimming after a smear. I think I'm going to go - but advice is appreciated :flower:

I really dont know for sure, but if you were partially dialated anyway, then i dont see that it would be any different. The only thing i think i might worry about would be bleeding, but not due to the chlorine, just the sweep in general.

Yes...doing the breast stroke with a trail of blood behind me would not be the best look! Luckily, I've not had any bleeding so far. x

My water broke in a pool with my son! I felt a sharp pain and got out. My water trickled for the rest of the day, but I wasn't sure...until it GUSHED out of me later. I did get a uterus infection (about a week after delivery). I have no idea if it was from my water breaking in a pool. Personally, if I was due like you...I wouldn't...just in case there was infection. I worked at a pool for seven years here (in a large city-run pool) and they are pretty fricken disgusting. A private pool...maybe...if I knew the chemicals were good. Public....no. We would have someone poop in the pool sometimes several times a day. It is gross.

Lmao. Im just glad the purple dye that detects wee either isnt in my pool, or doesnt actually exist, lol. I swear all i have to do nowadays is turn a little to fast and im leaking a little. It would be like i had a fountain pen in my pants :s

Ah that old rumour...stopped kids pissing in school pools for decades that has. I have to admit, the more pregnant I have got, the less inclined I am to get out of the pool and go for a wee. So I can confirm that the purple dye is, in fact, a work of fiction!
