My little boy is 2wks 3 days and I have been breastfeeding him but due to extremely painful nipples and boobs I have decided to swap to formula and gave him his first bottle this morning and he drank almost all of it. I wanted some advice on how to stop my milk flow and pre making bottles or do I need to make fresh every feed. Also any tips on nighttime feeding?
Thanks x

Hi Rach,

I very much went cold turkey when I stopped breastfeeding, but when I felt uncomfortable I would hand express a little milk to ease the pressure. I didn't have any pain at all from stopping.

As for making bottles up, what I do is make them up for a few feeds in advance (maybe 3 feeds as Bella's now generally on 5 a day), rapidly cool them in a pan of cold water, pop them in the back of the fridge & when I need to feed Bella, I'll warm a bottle in a jug of boiling water.

xx
