Switched to power and constipation

Hey girls! My LO is combination-fed - mostly formula during the day and expressed breastmilk at night.

We just switched from readymade Similac to power (both for gas and fussiness). Since it's the same formula, I didn't think there would be an issue. LO has been VERY constipated the past two days, with hard poops and they're very stinky.

Could this be the powder formula? If so, will it subside as she gets used to it? I don't want her to be in pain. The powder is just so much cheaper.

Are you using Similac Sensitive or Similac Advanced?

I think the liquid seems to be digested a bit better also, but it just isn't feasible for most people to use it exclusively. Could just be a minor adjustment period. Also, are you putting the water in first, or the formula? It's important to use enough water.

Thanks vintage - it's sensitive, does that make a diffference?

I had been putting in powder FIRST, so that may be the issue. I see now why that's so dumb!

I agree with vintage about the water first and then formula. I did it the other way around not knowing and my LO was constipated too.
