I intended to do this gradually but I have got May totally on formula now and my boobs are KILLING! I dont want to express as this can stimulate the milk to keep coming back....is it dangerous to just live through the pain...how long before the milk goes away?? Thanks

I never BF but did suffer with engorgement right after Hannah was born. It lasted roughly a week, maybe a bit longer, but slowly got better. I found that wearing two bras really helped (a sports bra and a regular bra) Also using ice packs helped. Avoid heat as that will stimulate milk production

I heard that the doc and prescribe a pill that helps u get rid of the milk.
ask your doc, I would do that

I know it's going to sound totally silly, but I had the same problem when I switch Claire to formula. What worked for me? Cabbage Leaves.

I don't know if it's a placebo effect or whatever, but literally a day or so after I used them my breast wasn't engorged anymore. I also took tylenol (for the pain) and advil (for the swelling) as well. You take the cabbage leaves and put them inside your bra and wear them until they wilt. I don't know what it is that made it work, but it did. I also wore a firm support bra 24/7 as well.

Hope that helps!

I was told when I want to stop is to just drop one feed every couple of days or to express a small amount off as this wont make the breast refill but cant tell you if it works as im still expressing
