have any of you ladies had to switch doctors so far in to your pregnancies???? Sunday I will be 28 weeks and as of last week I requested a record transfer to a more local doctor.

I do not want to change doctors not hospitals but per request of my hubby.... I'm makin the switch! We spent almost a month fighting and going back and forth over this subject. He says that during my due date... He will not be able to make it the long distance with me to attempt a VBAC at my current doctor. This is his busy time of year at work and I understand where he's coming from in that aspect but....... Now I will automatically have a c section. Which means a long hospital stay. Plus idk who is going to help me once I get home to take care of baby and my 4 year old.

Not happy at all but I suppose it's the sacrifice I'm willing to make to have him there with me the day my big guy is born! So sad!!

Hmm surely he'd end up taking more time off if you have a c-section? I needed my oh there for a couple of weeks after my second one as I needed the help dealing with our toddler more than with dealing with baby. I guess you've been through all this though. I agree it's sad for you to not be able to try. I've not had to switch doctors before. I'm supposed to when we move house in a month as we will be just out of he area, but I'm not happy with doing that so am just going to keep quiet about it until baby is here! I know my post is no help but wanted to wish you good luck and really to say I think you should be careful that you are absolutely happy with your decision. I was very unhappy after having a second c-section because I didn't feel supported by the doctors or my husband to try for a vbac. It has caused us some issues this time round.

I honestly am not happy at all about my decision but I guess it's what I have to do! That time of year my hubby works 15-18 hours a day or about 2 months straight and I know it will be stressful on him considering the dr that does a vbac is over an hr n a half away. I suppose that is what the big issue is. I've discussed the positives and negatives of both facilities and what may happen but he believes I should go more local.

And as for taking more time off for c section I've discussed that to. His solution for this problem is he will hire some one to stay with me! Eeek! So not what I want. Idk but I'm assuming I'll be ok I guess. This is my 3rd section and 4th abdominal surgery. I suppose if rather handle it all alone than have to pay some one to help me.

I appriciate all your support!

What's also hard to believe is that your local hospital won't 'allow' you to attempt a vbac. I'm assuming you've talked it through with someone there? I know doctors will recommend a third section (I too am facing my third) but what If you refuse to agree to one? What options does that leave you? The consultant said to me he would recommend a third section due to lack of research about the safety of a vba2c. However, if I was adamant, and the monitoring showed that everything was going well, then he would support me trying. If your hubby is prepared to pay for someone to stay after, is there an option of paying for a private hospital/midwife instead? This must be so frustrating for you. I think I would have resorted to a good old tantrum and tears and telling oh he can shove his poxy job if he cares more about that........anyway  I understand your sense of duty to your husband, I hope he realises his sense of duty to you too

Its not that I've had to switch doctors, but each time I go its a different one, and I know for a fact it will be a different one next time as its in a completely different place. Not something I have any control over really

My SIL switched OBs at 34 weeks in her last pregnancy, because her OB was telling her she needed a C-section simply because she tore with her first baby. She said it was hard coming to a new doctor so far along, but it was the best decision she ever made.
