Hi

I currently changed my LO over to Aptamil comfort as she was spitting the first milk back out and was starting too get a bit refluxy and colicky so was advised too change to comfort milk. Her feeds always took around 30-40 mins and she would take 3-4 oz every 3 hours, since changing her feed she does now manage 5oz but it takes forever!!!!! I have her on the variflow teats and always check too make sure that the teat isnt blocked and is still flowing but i feel she just gets bored sucking the thicker milk out and ends up falling asleep and i have too wake her constantly too remind her she is suppose too be feeding not sleeping!! It is taking me around 15-20 minutes too get an ounce of feed into her! so her bottles can take well over an hour each time, i thought with her being a little older that she would be feeding much quicker, do you think this sounds normal for comfort milk? any ideas? x

What bottles are you using? Maybe give a fast flow teat a go, might mean that she doesnt have to suck as hard. xxx

Am using tommee tippee and the only problem is ive had her on variflow for about 6 weeks now as she was really slow feeding with the no1 teats on her normal milk and i tried her on the medium flow teats a few days ago but she dosent like them as they thinner teats, she like the variflow as they are a wider teat and i think the fast flow are thinner than variflow again! Maybe i will have a look when im in Tesco tomorrow and check them out. thank you x

My LO is on comfort milk and sometimes she is very slow to feed and almost sounds like she is sucking the life out of her bottle! I have also tried a vari flow teat, she hates it, and I tried a size 3 teat - she hates this also... So I am stuck with the size 2s she is mostly happy. I think if your baby is colicky and refluxy its a good idea to stick with a slower flow teat so their tummies don't fill too quickly with milk and air...It sounds like a chore dragging feeds out tho! Have you tried stopping to do a nappy change or let her play on her playmat to wake her up when she starts nodding off? Or tried feeding her propped up in her bouncy chair or with cushions so she isn't getting warm from cuddling into you and falling asleep?
