Hi, Ive checked all of the progesterone threads and this question doesnt seem to come up! Sorry if it has.

Has anyone tried any protesgerone supplements without a perscription? I am taking vit B6 on top of my pregnacare conception multivit - dont want to overdo the pill popping if not needed and I do not think my GP will perscribe progesterone to me as he does not believe in such a thing as a luteal phase defect!

Sorry, I mean should I take progesterone supplements (cream or tablets) when on clomid without being prescribed them by my doctor?

Is anyone using protesterone supplements without being given it by a doctor?

I would be wary of taking any form of progesterone while on clomid, without consulting your doctor first.

It could actually mess up your day 21 bloodwork, couldn't it? It might indicate high progesterone levels (i.e. ovulation) when in reality you hadn't ovulated. Not sure about that...... I wouldn't do it w/o checking with someone in the medical profession. Just to be on the safe side.

Thanks ermm23a, I'm going to try and speak to my specialist tomorrow if not will make an appointment with my GP. I got my 1st cycle blood test results back today they were 24, not sure what that means but the docs notes said borderline ovulation - no action! Typical hey!

Have you taken progesterone before?

I have had to take provera (form of progesterone) twice to bring on a period in order to start a new round of clomid. Just had an u/s this morning and the 100mg of clomid gave me 3 follicles. I go back in a week to get progesterone levels checked. I don't know what they will do if it's still low even after all the follicles....
I have heard of people having to do progesterone suppositories to sustain a pregnancy though. But I think it's all closely monitored by a doc.
Hopefully your doc will be more helpful. If he's not answering your questions, you should find a new one that will! My RE is wonderful- he answers every ? I have and never makes me feel stupid for asking.

hey let me know how you get on with your progesterone levels, will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Your RE sounds brill, wish I had one like that! With a bit of luck i'll see someone decent next time!
