taking the pill after birth

Hi all well I had our baby boy 4 weeks ago ive been to the gp for my pill just wondering when to start taking it its states 3 wks after birth but should I wait till I get my period and when that finishes take the pill and wait a month after till in my system just not sure my periods are usually really heavy and very painful the pill always helps me to be honest wr can most definitely wait to have sexual intercourse ad we dint want any more children as we have two now. Advice pls thanku xxx

I was told if you start the pill before 21 days post baby you were covered but after that you can still start taking it, just use extra precautions (condoms) for a week x

I was told to wait for my first period before starting the pill x
