Hello, Does anyone know if you can have a tattoo while breast feeding?

Any reputable tattoo place (at least in Canada and the U.S.) will make you fill out a questionnaire that specifically asks if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. They won't tattoo you if you say yes to either (and if they do I'm not sure it's a place you want to get a tattoo). So unless you want to lie and say you're not breastfeeding, I think you'll have to wait it out.

Yes you can. It's a common myth that you can't. The ink molecules are too large to get into your breastmilk

It's because of the risk of infection which could then be passed on to the baby. The chances are really slim but still most if not all reputable places here would turn you down because of that. It definitely has more to do with the tattoo studio covering their bases in the unlikely event that it happened, but I still wouldn't want to get tattooed by someone who knowingly went against regulations (for obvious safety reasons as it implies disregard for their standards). Could be totally different outside of Canada/US, though, I have no idea!

I have moved my tattoo appointment to end of jan hoping i can stop by then :/

I am breastfeeding my almost 3 month old and just got a tattoo on my birthday Dec 26th. I also got a tattoo while breastfeeding my son back in 2012 (he was 9 months old at the time)

I have heard you shouldnt get a tattoo while pregnant but never heard anything about breastfeeding.
