hi all.

i am going to be entitled to approx 50 pounds per month tax credits when baby arrives, i found this out by filling the entitlemnt form out on the internet, but the only thing is there is no where to put that il be on maternity pay, it only asked how much i earn in job ( so i put in my full wages amount) i just did a pretend form to get rough ammount,

has anyone else had this problem when on mat pay?

xx

smp still counts as earnings from your employer so it goes in the same bit

as above however the following applies

for maternity pay- they disregard the first £100 per week...

and for maternity allowance they disregard to entire amount

hope this helps xx

You would have to apply for tax credits with last years earning and then phone them up and let them know you are on mat leave and give them an estimate of what you will be earning this tax year. So you would give your normal earnings - (£100 x number of weeks you will be on SMP this year).

ive been on maternity allowance since september last yr but gave them the yrs befores wages? could i be due some rebate? how would i work it out its so confusing

yes lucy,

wen you do your renewal DO NOT include your maternity allowance as income.

that will obv reduce your actual income from expected

Yes thanks! Im so confused!

Just rung up she said I need the p60 amounts for 06-07 and p60 amout from 08-09 but I cant find these can I get these from my employer?

Also Im going back to work next week so although I earned less last year I will be earning about 16k this year so will they scrap that I earned less last year?
