Tax credits/ Sure start

Hi everyone! :wave:

Probably a daft question.

Have recently sent off forms for tax credits and the sure start maternity grant.. the tax credit calculator says i should be entitled to more than the required amount needed to get the grant, but does anyone know what will happen if they process the grant form before tax credits do theirs?

Bit worried as the extra money will be extremely useful at the minute.

i think they will wait till your claim is awarded before making a descion provided you ticked the 'waiting to hear box' on the form and not the 'currenlty recieveing one'..

did you use the calculator on the tax credit website,.. if so the total it would have given you would have been for the total child tax credits..

the sure start goes on the family element only..

i think its £545 and 1090 if you have a baby under 1..

if tht makes sense.. i would ring tax credits up and ask them if they have processed yr claim yet and if so do they know wht the family element is..

i did the above.. our claim had been sorted 2 days prior and the first paymnent went in the next day.. but the award letters still havenet arrived! that was near 3 weeks ago!
