My 18 week old has cut his first tooth. What can u expect ? Will he bite me the thoughts are making me go ouch !

I never had an issue with LO biting me. She changed her latch whenever she was teething, and that could be sore but I never got properly bitten.

I was never bitten. Sometimes when new teeth came in my son would adjust his latch but never actually bit me.

My daughter never bit me when she got teeth

Depends on bub, my boy would kinda grind his gums together with my nipple in the middle Not at all pleasant! I would tell him no, quickly try and get my boob out of his mouth and not put him back on for a bit. A few times, he would grin at me while doing it and I'd give him a smack on his hand as well (this was around 10 to 12 months though, old enough that he knew he shouldn't do it). He soon learnt that he wasn't going to get any boob if he tried to bite me and hasn't done it in months

Thanks ladies I had always said I'd stop bf when the teeth arrived but I hadn't expected it this early. I'm not ready to stop so I think I'll see how it goes .....

My last ds cut his teeth early too and he bit me once but i just held him into my breast instead of pulling him off. I picked up this hint on this site. He only did it once thank goodness.

I breastfed mine for 2 years and his only ever bit me by accident very rarely

Mine occasionally grazed me while her teeth were coming in but never on purpose. Nursed her with a full set of teeth until she was 3 and never any problem.

Mine usually nursed a little differently for a few days while getting used to a new tooth but it has never caused a problem, she's never bitten, and she has all her teeth now except the final molars. You'd expect the top ones to grate away on you, but they don't at all. Amazing things, babies.

that's exactly what i said with my first (first tooth coming in at 6 months old) but i managed to nursed her 'til she's 1 (my breastfeeding goal). She bit a few times at the beginning when she's done. I went "OUCH!!" and pinched her cheek when she did that :)haha: not intententional the first time but it seem to let her know she shouldn't be doing that) and that seem to work as she stopped biting :haha:

but yes.. like others said, it depends on the baby~

Depends on the baby, DS bit a few times when he first vot teeth but i just said "OW" and popped him off, only happened a handful of times. I am nursing him still as i type this at 3 years old with a mouthful of teeth, no problem.

DD has quite a few teeth and has never bitten. She is 11 months.
