Hey All.

DD2 banged her mouth about 2 weeks ago. Her upper gum was bleeding at the front.

Now her two top teeth have just broken through the last last 3 days and I've just noticed the bottoms look brown. I am not sure if this is just blood from them breaking through the gum.

Really worried her fall has damaged her two front teeth now before they have even come through fully.

Anyone had this with their baby?. Considering taking her to the dentist! .

How brown is brown? Mine's top teeth looked sort of half brown-grey when they came through, but it wasn't obvious unless you looked closely. I read somewhere they come through with a weird membrane on them which then wears off ...

A trip to the dentist won't hurt. Usually teeth go grey or brown when damaged and can take up to a few weeks for this colour to appear. Have you got a soft toothbrush for her? Try just with water to clean them and see if the colour comes away. If not it may be that they are damaged. I really hope not xx

I'd take her to the dentist. My daughter did this and ended up with an abscess because her tooth died. Worst case scenario (I think!?) but it's best to get it checked out to be sure. :)

My son did this in June and since then had abscess one aft another, he's due for having his tooth removed in 2 weeks, get it checked out

I can only see it if I look really close. As I say they have just broke through .
Oh I've never heard of that happening Meep!. Thanks for that information! .
Thats exactly what I am worried about Clair!!.

I've just bought her a new toothbrush to have a good check later on before bed. Going to check her whole mouth over but I know I wont rest until she's seen by someone! .

Let you all know later on the findings .. Wish she would stop falling !! .
Thanks ladies xx

If they're not obviously really brown, then it could be like my LO's were. They still are, actually, I think - I only read about the membrane thing while I was panicking that her teeth looked weird. It never went away as far as I'm aware, but I just don't notice it now I'm not worried about it, as it's so incredibly minimal.

It was like there was a vertical line down the middle of each of her front teeth, and one half was opaque pure white and the other half was vaguely translucent with a very faint, pale grey/brown/yellow tint.

If it sounds anything like this, I think it's normal and most people just don't notice it. She now has really beautiful little teeth, as I am sure your LO will too!

Thanks Meep. Thats reassuring .

I have had a look tonight gave them a good brush and clean.

She started crying so not sure if its painful or she was just annoyed with me holding her.

She has an appointment in the morning so fingers crossed ! x

The dentist seems to think its what you mentioned Meep. A membrane eruption . Said her gums and upper teeth look fine and that her gums have probably took the force and will be sore with her hurting herself and teeth coming through.

Just got to take her back when they are fully through for a chext up. Said her teeth should be fine !.

Praying for no more falls and hopefully her teeth will be fine ! x

Yay membranes! That's reassuring. It should just wear away then with brushing and general use. :)

I'm sure her teeth will be lovely. Sorry for her that it's sore though - teething is horrific!

I am just thankful she's not done any damage. Her bottom teeth sre perfect and DD1 has lovely white pearls!

Trying my best to keep her accident free !

Thanks for all your help ladies! x
