Hello, I have a 7 month old who has 2 bottom teeth and i think his top ones must be coming all hes done is scream alllll day, red cheeks, biting, rubbing his cheeks. We use teething powder and calpol and the gel just slips around his mouth so isnt very good. Is there anything you guys would recommend ?

Anbesol liquid. Make sure you get the liquid not the gel.

Teething powders and calpol did it for us and just lots of cuddles and sleep and being extra sensitive with him. I didn't find the gels helped at all and actually in some babies they can make it worse because they numb the wrong parts of the mouth as well as the tongue and that itself can cause discomfort and trouble feeding (I put it on myself once to see what it was like, and it was pretty awful, so I decided we weren't doing that again).

All things cold! Wet a clean muslin and pop in the freezer to chill it. Bubs can then chew or suck it and it helps sooth sore gums. Can also buy these things where you put almost frozen fruit in for them to chew on. They kind of look like dummies but instead of teat its a little net. Sorry, don't know the name for them. Both helped my dd with teething and will do the same for ds when we get to that stage xxx

I agree with all things cold! That's one of the only things that has worked well for our teething boys. They love the toys that you can put in the fridge. In terms of teething toys that have actually worked, they prefer the really soft silicone ones. They bite SO hard on them and it seems to temporarily make them happy.

Thanks guys, no sign of top teeth still and a very grumpy baby today again x

DS was grumpy for about a week when his two front teeth came through, you could see the gum breaking slowly over several days and it looked so sore, he went on a food strike, wouldn't even take milk. We had to dream feed whenever he fell asleep.

We found raw carrot sticks, cucumber sticks and frozen washcloths for him to gnaw on helped along with anbesol liquid, calpol, nelsons teething powders and lots and lots of cuddles plus a couple of toys he hasn't seen in a while to distract him. Luckily he got the two either side of his front teeth this week and it wasn't nearly as bad just a few days of chewing everything and wanting lots of cold natural yoghurt.
I hope they come through for him soon without too much more trouble.

Amber teething anklet - genuinely the best thing I ever bought.

We are on the home stretch - final molars coming in as we speak! Got to say I am relieved it is almost all over - but my God, I think these may well be the worst of them all!

We have bought her a MAM gum massager, which is like a long toothbrush shaped thing with different surfaces on each end. It's great because the baby can manipulate it about to reach all different areas of the mouth, unlike a ring or toy which tend to be large.

You can also apply gel to the surfaces.
