I love reading peoples birth stories so pleaseeeeee share :)

I am about to have my second baby :happydance:

My first was a emergency c-section

are you planning a vbac? I also had emergency c section. got induced on my due date for obstetric cholestasis. had 1 pessary and 6 hours later they wanted to break my waters but labour ward was so busy there was no bed for me! So that was 4pm. by midnight i was contracting every 15 minutes and by 4am it was every 3-5 minutes. was in quite a lot of pain and i finally got a room around 5am. i was 3cm and they broke my waters which caused my contractions to intensify and sppeed up immediately. i used gas & air for a few hours but i was so tired (been awake for over 24 hours) and strapped to bed with stupid monitor. so basically wasn't coping with the pain too well. so gave me pethadine which knocked me out for a good 4 hours i reacon! i'd literally sleep to 2 minutes between my contractions. my hubby said it was so funny cause my contraction would start and i'd grab the gas and breath away and as soon as contraction finished my eyes would close and i'd drop the gas and let go of his hand! anyway eventually many hours later (i have no concept of time during my labour) i had a sudden desire to stand up and start pushing but was only 9.5cm so was told to stop. not long later i was 10cm and i pushed away for almost 2 hours in every position imaginable but my DS was not interested in coming out. after an USS they saw his head was tilted and facing out to my side. so told me forceps were best option. i remember being so exhausted and fed up of the pain that i was relieved he'd soon be coming out. they gave me a spinal block in theatre which was immediate relief and they tried to turn him with the forceps but couldn't. so the consultant said 'i'm sorry but its going to be a c section' and within 2 minutes he was crying and out.
its all so vague to me. i'm dissapointed about the c section and wish i could remember things more clearly but i have a healthy son which is the most important thing.

meant to say he was born at 18.56... so 35 hours after i had the pessary and 14 hours after my waters were broken.

aw hun, that sounds horrible :(

I am hoping for a vbac but chances of slim. Just a matter of waiting and seeing really

My son was ill positioned as well, and I didn't dilate because of it and ended up with a c-section. I went into labor naturally, but very shortly started having contractions that lasted 5-6 minutes, with only 30-40 seconds between them. The doula i have hired for this birth, said that was common and my body was trying to get my son up and out of my pelvis so he could re-position and being on my hands and knees, with my butt up would have helped. I can't wait to HBAC!

I started having mild contractions early in the morning, but nothing worse than a mild period cramp. I had a check up that day at 9:10. I went to my appointment and she examined me and told me I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. She had me walk over to the hospital. I checked in at 10:30 and at 12 they offered to break my water or give me pitocin. I opted to not have drugs. After they broke my water, my contractions were every 3 minutes. By 2:30pm I was 4cm dilated and 100% effaced. At 4:10pm or so, I told them I needed to push. I started pushing at 4:14pm and he was out at 4:28pm. All in all, I had 4.5 hours of active labor. I managed without any drugs. The pushing felt fabulous. I could have done that part for a long time. My little man was born 3 weeks early and was 6lbs 9oz. I was walking and feeling really good almost immediately. I can't wait to do it again!

Just because of the amount of problems I had in my last pregnancy.

bad pre-eclampsia gestational hypertension, spd, blood clot risk, high uric acid levels, then emergency c-section at 35 weeks also the left artery going into baby wasn't carrying enough blood , I am being checked regularly so only time will tell hun, I would love to push baby out

Fingers crossed this pregnancy will be different for you and you will be able to VBAC!

I also worry about having another c-section, but am planning and HBAC anyway. I really believe my body can give birth, and if I had the knowledge and support during my first labor, I could have made it through.

One thing I found that really helped me release the fear of a 2nd c-section was planning it out. That way if I find my self in that situation again, I have the knowledge of what I want already laid out, and I can make those requests of the doctor, and have some feeling of control. It really helped me. Maybe you can do the same, plan on VBACing as long as all goes well with your pregnancy, but also make that c-section plan, and then just let it all go. (that is what I am trying to do)

The birth of my son went very well, i went into labour at 41 weeks, the babys head wasnt even engaged! just mild cramps at first they started at 12midnite that got worse, by 5am i was in agony n got told to have a hot bath which eased the pain, i stayed in it as long as i could n got out because the pain was getting worse, foned hospital n they just kept telling me coz its my 1st baby the 1st stage of labour lasts about 24hrs so stay at home but i went to the hospital anyway coz the pain got too much n found out wen i arrived i was 9cm dialated (lucky i ignored them and went anyway!) i was on a birth ball for abit, in n out of sleep as id had non all night, got to 10cm n had my waters broke the head came strait down n felt the urge to push, i did about 5 times and then at 11.14am on 2.8.11 my beautiful boy jameel was born i fell in love with him strait away, the best experience ever, ill never forget it n hopeing to have lots of brothers n sisters for jameel in the future :) xx

Mine was amazing! I had to be induced, at 41 weeks baby was in distress with a high HR. I was already having contractions every 3-5 minutes but nothing was happening. Took the pitocin, a little while later I took the epidural (AMAAAAAZING! My best friend!) and about 6-7 hours later it was time to push, did 2 sets of practice pushes with the nurse and she had to stop and run get the Dr! Dr came in, and I pushed her out on the first try! 9lb,2 oz.

Cadence's first words to ever hear were "OH MY, SHES A BIG ONE!" Dumb Dr :(

The one thing I did not like was the shaking, I could not stop shaking somewhere in the middle there. The Dr said it was my hormones? Annoying!

Anyway, here is my pretty girl now! 3 weeks old today! Picture take at 2 weeks. She has grown like a weed.

i only had gas n air, didnt see the point of it without feeling anything its cheating init lol

both of my labours were amazing.

first one, i was 3cm dilated from 37 weeks on. i went to the bathroom at 4 am. i had bloody show and contractions every 10 minutes. i thought it was my water breaking, and i was GBS+. turns out it hadn't, but i didn't know. left for the hospital at 5:15, and by the time we got there at 5:35, the contractions were every 3 minutes. i started pushing at 5:45 and had harper at 6:24. no time for drugs, but i needed a pitocin drip after for my boggy uterus, and freezing for my stitches. she was 7lb15oz and 20.5" long.

the second, i was 3cm dilated in the am. they did a stretch and sweep, but nothing really happened. i went home and had a nap, woke up at 2:30pm. nothing. by 3, my contractions were really, really mild and 10 minutes apart. but i had a feeling, and traffic was picking up, so we left for the hospital. i got there, and the nurses were rolling their eyes at me. dr took a look, and i was 4cm without contractions, 6cm with. so the decision was made to break my water at 4:15pm. the contractions went to every 3 minutes, and i got really restless at 4:55. started pushing at 5, and everley was born at 5:08pm. she was 6lb8oz and 20" long. she's a week old now, and i feel fine, except for my coccyx, which has displaced both times. no drugs this time, except for freezing for the stitches.

I was 42 weeks and induced.
May 3rd i was induced in the morning, nothing much happened, 10.30pm i send DH home, went to clean my teeth& went to the loo, stood up, flushed, and my waters went all over the floor of the hospital toilet.

By the time i got back to my bed,as with alot of inductions, my contractions started, full on, 100% up on the pain scale. All of a sudden i didnt know if i was going to live or die!. This wasnt how i planned it!
No staff available to help me, i sat there clinging on to the bedside cabinet with pain so bad i couldnt draw a breath to ask the girl in the next bed to help me.
In between, i did managed to phone DH, he floored it back to the hospital, by the time he got to me, so did a mw.

Unable to cope with horrendous pain, i asked for an epi&got one. But unable to curve my back properly the doc struggled for 20 mins, shaking his head:cry:, i was mortified to think he couldnt do it, he did in the end though.
8 hours passed, i had a few cat naps, and it was the next morning.

Fully diated i pushed and pushed and nothing:shrug:. after a feel around the MWs werent sure what it was they could feel:dohh:
2 docs later and they decided they could feel a set of lips and a nose:dohh::wacko:
This boy wanted to come out face first:dohh:, a 1 in 5,000 chance.(trust me!).
I pushed and pushed some more, and contractions died off.
I lay there wondering if id be sent to theatre as docs came and went and looked at me.
In the end one doc came in and asked permission for forceps, went hammer&tongs:shrug:! at me and pulled me boy out so quick i was shocked.
so that morning at 8.25am he was born, face first, witha HUGE swollen lip and a big ole bruised cheek.
I ended up with a 2nd degree tear and took 5 weeks to heal.

It's long and detailed but it's there if you're interested :)

I love remembering about my labour!! I was 41 weeks and had a sweep that morning, by 8pm I was having regular contractions. I managed to stay home until 8am the next morning, the most comfortest place was sitting on the toilet!? We went to hospital and I asked the midwife if it was normal to feel like I wanted to push now; so she examined me straight away and said I was 10cm dilated!!- within 10 minutes my waters burst and then I spent the next hour pushing my son out into the world! It was amazing!!! I was so thrilled I manged to stay at home for as long and meeting my little son for the first every time was sureal! And nows he's 18 months old already... where does time fly too? Think its time for baby number 2 now!! xx
