I have left this really late as I've just been really scared of telling him :L
He rang today and asked about renewing our tenancy as it runs out in a couple of weeks. I need to get back to him about it tomorrow and thought it would be a good time to tell him? He's more than happy to have us stay here and we really want to stay.
I just don't know how or what to say especially as I've left it so late now :L

Any tips?

Why do you need to tell you landlord? Wouldn't even occur for me to tell them unless in friendly conversation?

Why are you worried about telling him? Sorry if I'm being dim but you already have a LO so I assume he doesn't mind children in the property?

I wasn't sure if he needed to know about another baby living here?

I'm don't even know why I'm worried tbh. It's more than likely to be fine as he obviously knows LO is here. I dunno, I'm just being paranoid :L

No hun I don't think so, like the PP says you already have a daughter so the property obviously allows children, I don't see any reason for him to need to be told, it's not going to affect him the slightest. It genuinely wouldn't occur to me to need to tell the landlord, you're a paying tenant not a prisoner lol :flower:

I recently had Millie and it didn't even occur to me to let me landlord know. And I was the only one living in the property when I moved in.

It's not his business :/ His business is if the rent lands in his bank, which it always does!

That's true. Yeah, the rent's still gonna be paid :)

Tbh we told our landlord out of idk politness? He knew I was pregnant with dd2 when we moved in and obviously we had dd1. If its not written in your contract you don't 'have' to let them know, but I suppose I just think if it was me I'd like to know iykwim?

But why would they need to know it doesn't affect them in the slightest? If you have a friendly relationship with your landlord then yeah that's different because it's polite socially I guess but even then I think I would drop it in informally in conversation not a letter or purposeful conversation. If I was the landlord I'd find it a bit awkward like "um...congratulations...anything else?" Lol.

I wouldn't know my landlord from Adam if he walked past me in the street.

Last thing I want to do is be like "hey, yeah you don't know me, I live in your house and SURPRISE I'm pregnant". Err no.

Awkward.

 I guess its different for us as we rent directly from him no agents etc. We didn't write a formal letter or anything we just told him she had been born the next time we spoke to him. Personally I would have found it more awkward the next time we had an inspection and there was another child here :haha:.

I didn't tell either time. I didn't see the need. Like PP said what are they going to do? Congratulations..? It's a bit weird on both ends lol x

Our agreement lists who lives at the property so I assume I would tell me landlord if we were going to have a baby.

He text me today saying he's gonna pop over at some point soon for us to sign the new lease so I guess he's gonna see my bump then. At least I don't need to worry about telling him a such now :L

I wondered about this, as in our last three tenancy agreements(for different places) they all said we had to notify the landlord for any changes i.e. children, change in people living at the address. Some places don't allow children, so that worries me if my landlord told me to leave if i had kids. but i don't imagine it's probably if you moved in with kids?

My landlord didn't know about Lola until he came round to check the boiler and she was here
I'd seen and spoken to him while pregnant too!
All he said was "you kept that one quiet" and laughed!

I live across the road from where my landlord works so he saw me about enough to know I was pregnant...wouldnt have told him otherwise though as its none of his business :)

My tenants didn't tell me about their baby. I went round to pick up a parcel that my dad had sent to my old address by mistake and there was a baby there about 5 months old. I wasn't bothered in the slightest that they hadn't told me. The only problem is that I doubt they'll renew their contract with us as it's only a one bed and they're absolutely brilliant tenants so I don't want to lose them.

Totally off topic, but every time I see your username I always think of my little rabbit.

He's called Button. I am missing him tonight as he's gone to his Bunny Hotel as we're on holiday tomorrow.
