Well i dont know where to start.....
My little man was due on September 3rd but didnt come, i had a few tightenings that night, they werent painful, but i noticed reduced movements so went up to the hospital for monitoring. He started moving about 20 minutes after we got to the hospital. The machine picked up my tightenings, but because i wasnt in pain they sent me home.
The next morning (September 4th) My midwife came to give me a sweep, it was my first internal so i was a bit nervous and had a bit of diarroeah that morning...Could've been a 'clearout' but could've been nerves...
I had my sweep at 10:45am and midwife said i was 1-2cm dilated and very soft...she felt my belly and said she estimated baby's weight to be 8-8.5lbs!
Me and OH went for a walk to try help the sweep work. He wouldn't DTD because midwife said i might have a bloody show..which completely put OH off going anywhere near there! All day i was still having the tightenings from the day before, but still not very painful/regular so i just ignored them....By 9pm they started getting a bit painful so OH started timing them and they were anywhere between 3-7 minutes apart...Went to bed and by Midnight, they still hadn't eased, but weren't anymore regular...carried on timing them and by 1am i felt like i wanted to go get checked at hospital to see what was happening...got to hospital about 2am and when i was examined i was still only 2cm dilated! All the pain i was having was in my back and the midwife said it was because baby was back to back...she gave me codeine and sent me home...i carried on having irregular contractions through the night, but they never got any worse...
At around 6am September 5th i had my bloody show...Still having contractions but still not any more painful, i could breathe and talk through them...so i was convinced i was still only 2cm! OH kept trying to get me to go into hospital to be checked again but i refused because i was managing....at around 9am i went to the toilet, felt a pop and a small gush and shouted up to OH that my waters had gone! Thats when OH started to panic...He rang his BIL who was our lift to the hospital. I was still on the toilet, at this point i couldnt move because i had the STRONGEST urge to push and everytime i tried to move, it felt like my body was pushing him out!
OH was rushing round trying to get me some clothes and my hospital bag, then his dad phoned and told us to get an ambulance...OH rang an ambulance and i somehow managed to get off the toilet and go into the living room...I was contracting, but they weren't painful anymore, i just felt a pressure to push, which i was fighting because i wasn't sure if i was anymore dilated...A paramedic got here around 9:30am and i dont know what she did, she gave me gas&air and then radioed through for a proper ambulance to get here...i dont know how long it took but my body was still trying to push...the ambulance got here and i had to be stretchered into it, which was pretty embarrasing...OH's family were all stood in the garden and im not sure if any neighbours were looking....It was so strange being in an ambulance! They were going SO fast! At one point the paramedic in the back fell onto my OH as the ambulance went round a corner!
We got to the hospital at 10am and i was shown to a room. The midwife took my notes and said she was guna examine me and then fill up the pool if i was 5cm so i could have my pool birth...she examined me and said 'Oh no time to fill the pool, your 10cm and ready to push. On the next contraction i want you to push down into your bottom'
She gave my OH a buzzer and said he had to press the orange button when she says so, to call in another midwife. I was given gas&air but it dried my mouth out too much so i barely used it. Inbetween contractions i kept having to have a drink of water lol
I pushed for about an hour, and at 11:03am (just over 24 hours from my sweep) my gorgeous little boy Logan Harry was born!!
It was the strangest feeling when he came out of me! I felt his whole body just kinda flop out! He did a little whimper and then was passed straight to me for skin to skin...and OH cut his cord!
I always said i wouldnt breastfeed, unless he found my nipple himself in which case i wouldnt take him off it...He latched straight away and fed for 2 hours!!
My placenta was delivered at 11:06am, just 3 minutes after my little boy!
While i was feeding, i was checked for tears...i had a graze either side of my 'wee hole' i cant remember what the technical name for it is haha!!
I had to have them both stitched up, they didnt use anaesthetic so i felt it all!! It stung so bad!!
After Logan was done feeding, he was weighed. He weighed 7lb5oz! I was expecting him to be massive with how big my bump was!
I was discharged later that evening and was so happy and proud to be taking my little boy home!!
Its SO scary being a mummy! Im constantly checking on him all night to make sure he's okay!!
He's now 4 days old and already has a cute little personality!!
OH is a brilliant dad and we are just so proud and amazed that we made someone so cute
