Im currently 28 weeks pregnant and a friend of mine (not super close only known each other a few months) has just announced the birth of her son and unbelievably they have the same name as we had picked out for our little boy

It’s spelt different and our little one will actually have the shortened version of the name in daily life, just the full version on his birth certificate!

I feel so awkward about it and don’t want to say anything...we had never discussed names and I’ve been keeping our a secret from everyone other than my mum and sis. My hormones are mental just now and I feel like everything I do is wrong and I’ll offend people regardless!

Has anyone ever had a situation like this??? #-o:shock::oops:

Happened to me too, and I was a bit put out because I'd been friends with this person for a long time and she knew that was my girl's name. She got pregnant before me (she also knew we were having to have fertility treatment), and nicked my name.

I was raging for a couple of days, but I'm in the same situation as you, I'm using a shortened version of the name (Charlie for Charlotte) so I don't think it really matters. DD is 6 weeks (her daughter is 3 months) and it doesn't bother me now.

I had this happen to me with my first pregnancy. I was wanting to name my little girl Cadence. I had told people and then all the sudden another co-worker at work said they were naming their girl Cadence after hearing that from us. I was pissed! I ended up changing my kids name and not telling anyone. Her name is Emmalyn and I love that even more then Cadence. She also ended up having her baby before me so it would have seemed like I had copied her even though it had been my idea! Everything worked out in the end. :)

Hugs mama. I would just say 'oh wow, congratulations. I can't believe we've chosen the same name for our boys. Great minds think alike hey'
Try not to worry. Im sure theyll be a fee others with the same name out there. It happens x

This !!

But how annoying !

My sister is law announced she was pregnant in November and told me they had picked our chosen boys middle name but as their babies first name. (We didn’t know at the time what sex our baby was ) This annoyed me no end because she knows this name is special to us and one that we have had since being pregnant with DD1 ! Sadly her pregnancy was lost at 5 weeks . So in the grand scheme of things it wasn’t important .
