Hi ladies :hi:

I'm visiting from first tri as I need recommendations for an electric breast pump. OH will be staying home with LO as I will be completing my college diploma, but we want to feed LO 100% breast milk- I breastfed my daughter for 19 months and only had to pump a few times, but even still I know how important a really good pump is, especially since I will be pumping a lot...

Can I get some recommendations with experience, please!?!

Thanks in advance!!:flower:

The best of the best are the hospital grade pumps: medela symphony and ameda elite. You can rent these (or buy but they are expensive).
Other than those, the ameda purely yours and medela pump in style advanced are really good too.

I exclusively pump and I use a Medela Pump in Style :) it's a double pump and I can get most of what I'm going to get out in about 10 minutes, although its best to stay pumping for at least 20 minutes.

Thanks ladies- I'm definitely going to be buying one as it is a necessity, and we will need it for more than a few months!

I have no issues with my Medela (I think it's called Medela Swing)... but I only got the single pump. Would definitely go for the double if you will be pumping all the time!

I went for the Medela freestyle as it's battery operated, so I don't have to be near an electrical outlet every time I pump, which should be a big plus when I return to work.

I have the medela swing, I pump a fair bit and I've found it great, but I can see why a double pump would come in handy if you're going to pump A LOT.

Totally agree! I used one with DS1 and loved it! Plan on using it again with this baby, it's so convenient!

I have the Medela Swing. I only have the single which works well for me and I've expressed a lot this time around. Sometimes I only want to express from the one side (not sure if this can be done from the double?). I previously had an advent and for me, it was useless. The Medela Swing is soo much better. Good luck.

I loved my Ameda. Model was "Purely Yours."

You can find then brand new in the box on eBay for under $100. The system is self contained so it is safe and sanitary to resell it when you're done using it. Was a double with completely customizable suction AND rhythm.

Used the same one for both my kids and it still worked like brand new when I sold it :)

I didn't know it was possibleto purchase the Medela Symphony thought it was only for rent?

You can buy a symphony but they're mega pricey!

Definitely go for a medela - it's what all the hospitals/midwives/health visitors reccomend. With ds1 I bought a tommee tippee with no research just because so much of the other stuff I was buying was tommee tippee! But it wasn't great & my breastfeeding support lady loaned me a medela. This time I bought a medela myself!

Make sure you get a closed system pump! Open systems can allow milk to overflow into the pump itself which can't be sterilised, it can breed bacteria, and get back into your milk!!
