I finally found some time to write my birth story. I'll try to keep it as short as possible.
My little boy was born on the 16th of January at 3.37am weighting a healthy 9lbs3oz at 41+5 gestation.
I was induced on Sunday, the 15th. They broke my waters at 2:30pm and contractions started building up gradually and by 3:30pm I was in full blown labour. I was already 3cm when they broke my waters and from 3:30 to 7pm I went from 3cm to 6cm. The contractions were coming one after another and only place I found I could manage them was a stool in the ward. I used gas and air but it made me drowsy and didn't really help. So i've asked for epidural and by 7pm it was in. I've progressed nicely until 12am when i was stuck on the last cm. With some help of a synthetic drip (can't remember the name) I finally was ready to push at 2:10am. By the time I was pushing, epidural worn off and the machine wasn't picking up my contractions so no matter how much i've asked for top up they didn't give it to me. I had to go all natural in the second stage which was the most painful experience in my life. I had no energy in me to push, baby's head was in and out in and out for like an hour...I was screaming and asking for doctor with ventouse or forceps . After another few pushes, midwife gave me episiotomy and the baby was out by the next push. Placenta was out within few minutes with an injection.
Midwife said that I had the longest umbilical cord she's ever seen - it was incredibly long when they showed it to me:} they've placed him on my chest, I tried to bf straight away but he wouldn't latch.
After that, I had a shower whilst daddy was enjoying his first moments with his son. I've got transferred to the post natal unit at about 5am and by 11am I was discharged from the hospital.
I'm still recovering with the episiotomy even though it's not as bad as i thought it would be.
So here we are-4 days old, healthy, FF, getting weighted tomorrow
Thanks for reading!
