My little girl is now three weeks old. I just now seem to find time to write this all down! My birth story is nothing over-the-top or harsh but I was pretty pleased.
I had been walking a mile everyday for the last couple of weeks leading up to my due date. I walked myself silly. I had been stuck at 2-3 cm dilated for about three weeks as well.
My due date was October 18th but I was running late so had a follow up appointment/scan on the 20th. I also had to decide when I wanted to schedule my induction as my OBGYN group does not let anyone go over a week. They asked if I wanted it Tuesday and I declined as a bit of panic set in. I settled for Thursday morning, bright and early. However, she had other plans.
Tuesday came and went but on Wednesday I felt unbelievably calm (I had cried and panicked about being a mom for a while, in all honesty.) Around 11 a.m. I had a BM and soon after experienced light back cramping on and off, sporadically. They continued and could be 5 or 20 minutes apart and the intensity was random, also. I texted OH just to be sure he was ready as this had never happened before and I was not the one to get BH contractions.
All this unpredictable labor pain continued on till 5 p.m. on the dot when they suddenly became every five minutes and more painful, but not intolerable. I told everyone I needed to go and got dressed and got my bags (very slowly, lol) and off we went. I was almost certain they would send me home as I felt pretty dang okay and I had a persistent fear they would stop as soon as I arrived.
I signed in and was wheeled off to a room with my mom (I honestly was a little confused because I felt fine to walk on my own). They hooked me to an IV and checked me.. 3.5 cm. The main nurse told me I probably wouldn't have this baby anytime soon. Shortly after OH arrived. Shortly after he arrived, I was given an epidural (I am a sissy even though the contractions did not make me scream, cry, etc.). The nurse asked me if I was sure I wanted one because I was doing so well and the anesthesiologist kept asking me if I was okay while putting in the epidural as I "did not seem like the type of person to complain".
After that, me, OH, and my mother all sat around playing on our phones and talking. They checked me only two hours later and I was at an 8. I felt the epidural wearing off quite quickly and they decided it was okay to inject more into me. A few hours after that my waters were leaking (which I had felt) and I was a 10. They wanted me to practice pushing while laying flat. I would have the gist of how to push but then would lose it and her head would go back up. The on-call OBGYN came in and positioned me up and I freely pushed 10 seconds, 3 times for every contraction I felt. She was finally crowning and the nurse was twirling her hair hanging out of me before her head ever came out

A little bit later the nurse didn't seem too pleased with my progress so she pushed my OH out of the way and climbed on the bed and over top of me and rammed her elbow into the top of my stomach. Within a few seconds I felt a big release and knew she was out. I cried before I ever saw her face or heard her cry. My mother and OH cried, too.
Priscilla was born 1:02 a.m. Thursday, October 23rd, weighing 7 lbs. and 11 ounces, 20 inches long. Hours before my scheduled induction.
I am glad I panicked and let my body take its natural course instead of giving in to pressure on being induced Tuesday. Either way she is here and healthy. I love her to bits and everyone is crazy about her![Heart <3 <3](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/PurpleHeart.gif)
