So thought I might try get this all down as my memory is starting to fade already!!
I had a sweep at 39+5 and bled quite a lot. Nothing happened but on my due date I lost all my plug is one huge blob. (eeww!!) still nothing happened!! I had another sweep at 40+2 and my cervix had moved posterior so was very painful but the midwife managed to get it all done. Nothing happened for what felt like ages!! OH and I kept ourselves busy everyday and went for lunches together and stuff... Just enjoyed and relaxed before baby turned up.
On the 17th, 40+5, I woke up at 3am with slight contractions so I took 2 paracetamol and went back to sleep. Woke up again at 7am and couldn't get back to sleep. Got up and put a pad on as I had a bright yellow mucous coming out... Contractions kept coming and I started timing them at about 9am. They weren't regular at all but we're getting more and more painful. I rang the hospital at 12 and they said I could go in if I wanted, just for peace of mind. OH put everything in the car and I had a lovely shower. We went in to the hospital at about 2.30pm. The midwife went to check me and my waters went all over the place!!! There was very thick meconium in my waters so I had to be transferred from the birth centre to the labour ward. Turns out I was 3cm dilated. I was offered gas and air while I waited for a room to be prepped for me. I really didn't like it at first and went a bit longer with no pain relief. By now the contractions were getting a lot stronger!! I got down to labour ward and had a lovely room. I was kneeling on the bed and started using the gas and air coz contractions were so sore!! By 5pm I was asking for pethadine coz I was struggling to cope. I finally got my pethadine and at 5.30pm I was screaming that I needed to push. The midwife didn't believe me but went to check me to see how far I was... And to her surprise baby's head was almost out!!! They turned me over so I was kinda sitting upright and after 15 mins of pushing my gorgeous baby girl was born! I had continuous monitoring throughout as well coz of the meconium. Ashlynn weighed 7lb 10oz at birth and is the most beautiful thing in the world!! I had a 1st degree tear coz she came out with her hand by her face and it had to get stitched coz it wouldn't stop bleeding!
